We found the place through the outstanding reviews on Tripadvisor and it did not disappoint. Much as the centre of Stratford is a lively and buzzy place to stay, for us the ability to escape (after six hours spent happily enjoying both of Henry IV's parts) to a semi-rural haven in the admirably-appointed village of Tiddington was a delight - a short enough hop for us to feel happy to leave the car in the hotel car park and use the local excellent taxi service. As is usually the case when a hotel stay transcends purely functional considerations, it is the people who make the difference, and here the welcome could not have been warmer, with ready advice and a refreshing sense of humour adding to the relaxed, unfussy atmosphere. Arriving after a wearing Bank Holiday weekend drive, we were thrilled to find, within easy walking distance, three highly-recommended eateries: Indian, Chinese and Spanish. We settled happily on Connolly's tapas place, the easiest of all the walks, no more than 200 yards, and enjoyed a warm atmosphere and authentically flavoured and varied platelets: not so overwhelming as to prevent our thorough enjoyment, the next morning, of a truly excellent breakfast, with fine locally-sourced ingredients. The place was immaculate and the room better in every respect than those in many more expensive places: excellent value and, more to the point, a real pleasure to stay.
