Reviewed 21 May 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Victoria Spa Lodge. The rooms were comfortable and full of character. The breakfasts were delicious and always served with a smile. The whole family made us feel very much at home during our stay in Stratford. With only a half an hour stroll along the canal to Stratford, this Victorian style building is set in a great location.
Thank you!

My wife and I have just had a weekend away in Stratford and this is the second time we have stayed at Victoria spa lodge. From the moment we arrived the owners made us feel completely at home. On the second day they recommended a great restaurant and organised a taxi for us. Our room was warm and comfortable and breakfast was a real feast! It,s so nice to be dealt with as a valued customer and not just another guest. Don,t change a thing, carry on England!

Room Tip: The two rooms we have tried were both very good.

we are just back from a few days in Stratford upon Avon ,
and have been staying at a wonderful bed and breakfast by the canal which we used to wander into the center of stratford ,the breakfast room is a beautiful original Victorian setting the hosts Paul and D'reen are a serene and gentle couple who go out of there way to make you feel welcome with good advice on local venues and excellent hospitality the breakfast is wonderful we had one of the large family rooms and found it to be all we wanted for a reasonable price too
i would certainly recommend this to all whilst we were there i can honestly say we had a quiet and relaxing time

We stayed during a cold spell, and for much of the time the room central heating was non-operational. Add to this rather thin duvets and you get the picture of discomfort.

Many of the furnishings and fittings are tired. the bathroom sink plug was defective.

Otherwise averasge/just about good enough

Spent 2 nights here whilst on business down the road. Other reviewers have commented that the place is tired. I would say it is more well worn and characterful than tired. Yes there are a few frayed edges, but the place is clean and looks well cared for.
A bit out of town so much quieter than busy central locations, but at this time of year easy to drive in and park in the evenings or take the park and ride bus from down the road. In the summer I would imagine it to be a pleasant walk into town along the canal, although perhaps a little more than the stated 20 minutes. On my first night I didn't fancy eating out in town alone, so brought back a takeaway. Peter happily supplied me with all necessary tools to enjoy my food, whilst Annabelle made me tea and stopped to chat so I wasn't lonely.
My double room was easily big enough for two with a pleasant view over the canal. House was very warm, which was excellent with the cold weather, but there are adjustable thermostats on radiators if you get too hot.
Good breakfast with enough to eat in the beautiful dining room. I would happily recommend this b&b to people wanting a quieter location and will certainly use again if I need a place in this area.

We spent three nights in the Victoria Spa Lodge, we were 5 and shared the same big bedroom, ideally for 4 persons but we still had enough comfort. Two bathrooms were at our disposal, one in the bedroom and one in the corridor.
Comfortable beds, beautiful garden, excellent home made breakfasts, lovely and very welcoming couple, typical English countryside atmosphere full of charm.

Our group was disappointed in this B & B. The rooms are terribly dated without being of a "period" design. I think there were floral arrangements from the 80s in the rooms. Pretty building but location wasn't convenient or attractive. Disappointed that they received such high marks from trip advisor.
