The White Swan Hotel

Firstly we were greeted by a sulky receptionist who neglected to tell us there was a charge for the car park and that we had to be in the white bays! Luckily there were no penalties for us when we parked in a yellow bay. All the staff were a bit sulky to be honest and the language heard when waiting for the lift outside the kitchen made us grateful they were on the quieter side! I don't know what table 9 had done to upset the kitchen staff but someone was very displeased with them!
The room itself was a tad small but lovely. The view however of air conditioning units and an abandoned toilet was not what I expected when paying over £100 a night.
The breakfast was awful. We stuck to croissants and cereal on the second day. Not sure how they managed it but everything on the plate tasted bad.
The bar is lovely and the staff in the evening were very attentive. The main part of the hotel is lovely too. A nicer breakfast, a bit more effort from the staff and an improved view and the hotel would have been ideal.

We recently stayed here for two nights and were very pleased with the room. Newly refurbished, the room (a grand double) was large, as was the bathroom. Very clean. No view whatsoever, but we knew that when we booked. Comfortable bed, free wifi and a hotel car park not too far away. The hotel is well situated within walking distance of all the charm of Shakespeare's hometown. But what really makes this hotel wonderful, is the restaurant and pub. The atmosphere and decor are fantastic. It's like stepping back into time. The restaurant staff are a bit stressed, but if you are patient, it is worthwhile to dine here. Or, at least have a pint and imagine Shakespeare enjoying a mug of mead at the next table.

I felt I got a good value, as our room rate included parking, wifi and breakfast for less than $140 per night (dollars).

Breathtaking room. We stayed in 106. The bed is the most soft & comfortable me and my boyfriend have ever slept in. At first yu think that the bedframe is made out of leather belts.then you touch it and realise its metal. Beautiful touches to the room inc a vintage working telephone etc. The shower was truly lush and something from a luxury spa.

My only complaint stopping this from being perfect, was i requested housekeeping from reception, to come back to find the bed not being made properly. The dirty towels had been left in the bathroom. No toiletries had been replaced. And i had left a note asking for the mugs to be replaced with new ones which had been ignored. The only things that had been done was more milk in the fridge. A half hearted attempt at making the bed and picking up a toothbrush and shaver from the floor in the bathroom.

At four in the morning. We woke up to a freezing cold room and a large bang in the corner of our room. We listened quietly and more banging continued in the bathroom. It was not the pipes but someone banging around in the bathroom. We talked about sprits and the banging stopped for around two minutes. Then when i paused, there was one final bang against the wall, then we distinctly heard the toilet roll being pulled. My boyfriend then made us hot chocolate to warm us up as the room was still freezing. After about 15 minutes the room returned to normal tempature. I then got up at 5 in the morning feeling sick. I went to the toilet to discover the toilet roll nearly touching the floor. Spoooooooky!!!

This quirky 15th Century Inn has been sympathetically entwined with 21st Century contemporary style. The White Swan has a comfortable, relaxed feel to it and combines being a "good pub" with "fantastic rooms" and "great food". Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Well done.....

We stayed for just one night at this Fullers hotel. It enjoys an excellent and prominent location in the centre of the town. It was friendly and welcoming. The service throughout the hotel was very good.

The whole hotel has been well designed and has a very good atmosphere. Other reviews have mentioned carparking as a problem. The whole town is restricted for parking but this hotel has access to a carpark about 200m away that was easy to use and inexpensive at £8 for one day and night. We didn't suffer any noise from the bar or from the street but it was mid-week.

The walk from the hotel to the theatre takes about 10 minutes but it is right through the centre of the town and so its a real pleasure in itself - (the weather was dry!).

We stayed in one of the character rooms (Twelth Night) which is also excellent. One negative for us is that the ensuite bathroom has a curtain and not a door to separate it from the bedroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return to Stratford and to this hotel but we'd prefer a bathroom with a door next time.

Room Tip: Next time I'll ask about bathroom doors.

We accidentally came across this place. My husband was just looking for a traditional English pub. We walked in to this place and the internal interior was just amazing so we decided to stay and have our dinner there. We ordered their 2 x 3 courses set menu for £19 and we didn't really have any expectations but when the food came out oh my they were amazing. The whole experience was amazing. One of the best restaurant meal we have ever had.
