My only regret is that we could not have stayed more than one night at this lovely inn. Our beautiful and very spacious room looked out onto the main street, but was not noisy at all. Comfortable bed, huge bathroom with a copper tub as well as a shower, great toiletries, a little fridge, bathrobes, and lots of other little amenities that made you feel pampered. The hotel gives you a voucher for free parking in a lot several blocks away, which is useful as parking in downtown Stratford-upon-Avon can be difficult. The only negative for some guests (not a problem for us, but we had lightweight luggage) is that our room was at the end of a series of hallways and up and down a series of steps and through fire doors - as though the hotel had been expanded multiple times. After we figured out how to find our way back to reception, we were fine, and that experience certainly did not negatively impact our stay. Just a word of caution however, if you have tons of luggage, try to leave most of it in the car.

Stayed at this hotel for a long weekend in August. It was just lovely. Our room was gorgeous. Bathroom great with big walk in shower and roll top bath. Everything freshly painted and new. Chatted to two elderly gents in the lift who had stayed at the hotel for eleven years and told us this was the best it had ever been. The upstairs was beautifully modern, with the downstairs seeped in tradition and history. The toiletries were fab, so yes they did come home in my bag. Very central for railway station and all shops and touristy things, except maybe Anne Hathaway's cottage which we walked our legs off to find! Worth it though so pretty. Boat trip also nice and relaxing. Would stay again.

Shame really. My friend and I eat out in Stratford upon Avon regularly. This was an interesting experience as parts of the evening were superb and parts dreadful. This makes it difficult to review but I'm giving it a go. The building is superb and there was no trouble in getting a table. We decided to have a starter and a pudding. The starter we both had was scallops, absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. However, it should have been listed as "scallop" singular as it was one scallop sliced. Two of the waiters were pleasant enough but the other was very offhand and did not look at us once when he took our order. We had to wait 20 minutes for the pudding, far too long, they were not busy, but the waiter did apologise for the wait. The pudding was again, delicious. The starter cost a whopping £10.25 and the pudding £6.95 so in all an expensive but delicious snack!

This is the second time we have stayed at the White Swan in Stratford-upon-Avon.This hotel is ideally located for the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, shops, restaurants and the river with everything a short stroll away. The hotel was re-opened last year I believe after a major refurb and the interior has a fresh and modern feel to it albeit some parts of the building are several hundred years old! The bedroom was well appointed and provided with a spacious en-suite bathroom. The refrigerator was provided with a carton of real fresh milk for teas and coffees, not the usual UHT stuff. I can't comment on the restaurant as Stratford is well served by good restaurants and we ate out before the theatre but we did take breakfast which was very good. All told an excellent and faultless stay.

This hotel has everything you could ask for: a central location, discounted parking, high quality rooms and excellent food. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were lucky enough to stay in one of the character rooms which was spacious and stylish but with everything we needed. The hotel building is over 500 years old and some of the original features have been retained. The bathroom was huge with a standalone bath and walk-in shower. This hotel really is in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon and within five minutes walk of the Globe Theatre. We had dinner in the hotel which was of a very high standard with excellent service. We will definitely stay there whenever we are in that part of the country.
