“New Years Eve - Amazing Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

Having just arrived home from our two night stay for New Years Eve at this fantastic hotel, we have had the most amazing stay. New Years Eve was superb from start to finish. The food, the service, the band and especially the staff were first class. The room was beautiful and spotless and the staff can't do enough for you. Can not wait to return in the spring.

Stayed over New Year. The rooms (standard) was quite small but clean
, great refurbished bathroom best rain shower ever! Staff very helpful and the food was great not huge plateful but delicious well presented food and cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend for a stay in historic Stratford. Good central location for walks around town, down by the river and the theatre. We hope to return.

A perfect location in the centre of town, modern rooms with a traditional feel with full temperature control, lovely beds - a better night sleep than my bed at home, hot shower, tv which includes all 3 sky sports channels and great room facilities in general - very relaxing.
Note: My only small critique of the room is lack of available drawer space (room 107) - though with a little adapting of the shelves this can be overcome relatively easily and does not matter fr a short stay.

The bar is very good, lots of beers and wines and guest beers too. The public seating area at the front of the hotel has real character with 2 real log fires and comfy lounge seats a good traditional atmosphere - sites, sounds and smells all as you would expect. Also a real bonus is there are no televisions so it's down to good old conversation or stare at your phone screen if that's what floats your boat or if you are on business of course.

The restaurant - outstanding food presentation, exquisite food quality in the evenings and fantastic breakfasts with a choice from the cooked menu i have rarely seen in other hotels. A real fire burns and keeps you warm in the dining area in the cold, windy wintery weather. A small request - an evening Sunday Roast would be a nice option to have as after that excellent breakfast it was just too early to sample the roasts in the mid afternoon.

The staff: all of them are excellent with a real variation of nationalities. They add real character to the already excellent atmosphere.

note: check the booking with the hotel. We had problems with the online booking systems and communications. I don't think their systems in the hotel talk to each other as well as they could and there were some errors that needed to be rectified at the end of our stay.

note 2: if you have not been to Stratford Upon Avon before finding the back of the hotel initially is a bit difficult and you could end up going round in circles a few time - Check with Google maps or similar to find the hotel's rear entrance as some Sat Navs might not get you directly outside the back gate.

note 3: after baggage drop off parking is off-site in an external car park which is close by in the next street and manned but it will cost you an extra £14 a day (as of December 2013). It is convenient to a point but not if it lashes down with rain for the day.

If I make it to a play at the RSC this is the place I will stay at - no question. a relaxing stay where the beds are comfortable, food is great, the staff bend over backwards to help and are friendly - brilliant atmoshpere all round - thank you

There were four of us and we arrived two days after Christmas, so all the decs were still out and the place looked lovely. It was with raining hard and we were wet and tired, but once inside the hotel, the welcome we got, expelled all our winter blues. The rooms were warm clean and comfortable. The other couple had a bath and a shower, we had a large walk in shower. We went down to dinner and was greeted by Antonio who made us feel so at home. The food was good but the wine a little overpriced. On the whole we enjoyed the evening very much. Breakfast was good with a wide choice of dishes. When we came to pay the bill we were charged for items that we were told were "on the house" it is always embarrassing to have to question the amount charged, however they did take the items off the bill and it did not spoil the enjoyment of the 2 days we spent there.

The White Swan Hotel was an amazing value and stay. We were able to check in two hours early, which was much appreciated. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well decorated and free wifi was offered.

Breakfast was included in our stay. I initially wasn't too sure about the breakfast menu as I only wanted something small and simple. However, I ordered the eggs benedict with ham and was very good. The ham was slightly salty so I did end up picking half off and it was a bit cold when I got it. The coffee was really too strong and thick for me. However, despite those criticisms, it was really very nice. Everyone else in my party really enjoyed it. The yogurt offered in the breakfast buffet was to die for.

We stayed at The White Swan this past weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was gorgeous, well decorated and very clean. The staff were lovely. The location and atmosphere was fantastic. We were in the Romeo and Juliet room (102). Before our visit I read some complaints about the room being located above the pub and it being quite loud and hard to sleep. You could hear some muffled noise from the patrons below, but it in no way detracted from the room our our ability to sleep...and a little noise is to be expected when you stay in a pub. We will definitely be back.

My only, very, very small critique is that the feather pillows, whilst favoured by many, didn't provide enough support for me. A mix of very soft and more firm pillows would have been appreciated.

Lovely hotel in a great spot. We were well looked after by all the staff and the room, food, bar etc were all very nice. Marked down slightly for offsite parking which wasn't great leaving in the rain. We had room 116 which meant that with the window open was noisy in the morning from staff downstairs using the outdoors.
