The White Swan Hotel
Certificate of Excellence

A star hotel, the rooms are absolutely amazing and very clean and tidy. The staff are great and very polite and also very helpful. The only downside I found was the room we stayed in room 111 I wouldn't recommend. As it is close to the cleaners room and right next to the hall way doors, it was very loud and noisey and woke me on many of occasions so get very little sleep!! Otherwise the overall hotel was great

The hotel was a last minute booking but what a find. Lovely, clean, ideally located for all the attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was first class nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend to anyone who wants a first class hotel

The overall hotel is full of history which is detailed throughout. It has an ambience second to none. Being hundreds of years old it is steeped in character and atmosphere. This is echoed with the attention to detail by the fantastic chef and his obviously talented team. The food was absolutely fantastic. The chef took the time to come and talk to us and his enthusiasm and passion was infectious. In addition to this, the bar staff, Oeste, Tony and Andreas have looked after us with the utmost courtesy and politeness. They make the whole dining and bar experience special. They have fabulous personalities and we had a great laugh with them whilst they showed complete professionalism. Would recommend The White Swan to anyone who wants a relaxing, lovely break.
Many thanks to all, we will definitely be back.

An excellent varied midweek menu at a really good price. The food, service from the bar staff Tony and Andrew all night was really attentive and friendly. Would recommend and definitely revisit when back in Stratford.

It's not easy to find a great place in Stratford and The White Swan isn't bad at all. I liked the spacious, modern, minimalistic rooms and it was walking distance from the station and the wonderful RSC.Breakfast was pretty good and the place has a real pub restaurant atmosphere on Friday night, although staff are pretty stretched offering hotel services at the same time. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a big 'designery' modern double room, ask for one of those.

The hotel has lots of relatively modern and spacious rooms, plus a half-dozen or so in the really old (c1450) part of the building. The latter are smaller, with lower ceilings and old-fashioned furniture, creaking floorboards, etc. They are also more expensive. But, if you're only staying a night or two, the older rooms are the ones to go for - will really enhance your 'Stratford experience'.

For the rest, the selection of beers and wines is very good, the staff were friendly, breakfasts were OK and dinner was surprisingly good - I had a dish of monkfish, with a crab-cake and poached duck's egg on seasonal vegetables and microherbs that a Michelin starred restaurant would not have been ashamed of.

We took a Polish friend (who works in the hotel trade) to stay there - and she was wowed by it!

Room Tip: The old rooms are the best! Don't worry too much about facing onto the street, because Stratfor...

There is documentary evidence that he could well have, and it takes little imagination to see shades of Will at every turn in this atmospheric hotel. Yes, it's old but beautifully conserved without looking 'done over'.
It has of course: good size rooms, comfy beds and pillows, fine bed linen, tea/coffee maker, free wifi, fridge with complimentary spring water (still and sparkling), beautiful walk in shower and chic decor. The food was superb too! AND the staff.
A small terrace at the front of the hotel allows you to take in the bustle of this busy town and the bus stops are nearby. However, everything is within walking distance including an easy stroll to Ann Hathaway's Cottage - highly recommended.
The car park for this hotel is confusing first off but we soon got the hang of it. We stayed for 2 nights in mid April, having booked weeks in advance for Henry IV (1) at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre. It was an unmissable experience.

About 4 miles east of Stratford is Charlecote Park where Will got nabbed for killing a deer. The house and park are well worth visiting and there is a Flying Club en route for coffee or lunch - you don't need to be a member...just sit on the terrace and see some wonderful biplanes.
