Virginia Lodge Guest House

Can't fault the location, close to everything. B&B itself was OK, nothing special. Double be was two twins pushed together and it was quite dated. Although nice and welcoming.

We booked this Guest House after looking on the internet. We stayed here with friends who had travelled from Buckinghamshire. We are only an hour from Stratford. The Virginia is ideally placed for the City centre. We arrived just after 11am and were welcomed by Tim. He showed us to our rooms and offered to help us with our luggage. We were in room 5 which has a four poster bed and our friends were in a double room 6 at the top of the house. Both rooms were clean and well furnished. The ensuites were small but very clean with nice soft white towels which were changed daily. We had a stroll into the centre - only 10 minutes easy walk. We didn't use our cars after arrival til departure! The guest house has parking for guests at the back of the house which we found convenient. Our breakfast was served promptly - we were asked to pre-order the night before and we found this worked very well. Tim and Kate were attentive without being intrusive. We walked from the guest house to Anne Hathaways Cottage - just 20 mins from the Virginia. The beds were comfortable and pillows and duvets very welcoming. We ate at the Garrick Inn, Hobson's Coffee House and had our Anniversary dinner in Othello's within the Shakespeare Inn - all were excellent. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Virginia and look forward to spending time there again.

Room Tip: We had rooms 5 and 6. Both were at the rear of the property and were very quiet.

Stayed here for a long weekend with my husband. We were met by the ever helpful Tim. He helped us with the bags and showed us to a lovely room, complete with four poster bed. Room 2. Even though this room was at the front of the building, there wasnt much road noise. Room was adequate size with an en-suite. Rooms looked a little tired, could do with some modernisation but it was ideal for what we wanted. Basically somewhere to sleep whilst looking round the area. Tim was excellent in giving us local knowledge, where best to eat, drink etc. and giving ideas of what to do on a rainy day in Stratford! Hes suggested the Heritage Car Museum which is only a few miles. Well worth a visit if stuck for anything to do. Thank you Tim for that suggestion! A lovely little place. Kept clean and tidy and breakfast is good. We started with cereals, then had a cooked breakfast with basically as much toast as you could eat and plenty of tea/coffee. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 and 5 are the four poster rooms.

Stayed in room three which another reviewer says is one of the bigger ones, and its fine, but very cramped down the sides of the bed. Was not keen on the pillows/bricks. Great shower however.

Breakfast was OK but not a lot of it.

Lovely staff.

Room Tip: We were at the back, rooms at the front facing the road COULD be noisey as the road is busy. Our roo...

I booked this hotel as a treat for my partners birthday. On arriving i was greeted by Tim who seemed very nice. We were shown where to park around the back which was great. Tim helped us with our bags and showed us to our room.
On entering room 1 we were very very dissapointed as the size of it was just totally unacceptable for the price we were paying.(£68 per night) The bed was lumpy and noisy and really uncomfortable. No chairs to sit on so we had to sit on bed all the time. The en-suite was a small cupboard which was`nt really that clean and needs re grouting. The shower i could`nt use as the shower head was so clogged up it was just a trickle. Next morning breakfast which we ordered the night before was ok. I decided i would ask to change rooms and i have to say Tim was very accomodating. We were given room 3 and that was much better. This room was the same price as room 1 which we find strange as its a much better room. A huge bed and very comfortable too. The room was a lot bigger and the shower nice and clean. And we had 2 chairs in the room which was much better.
There was a very short walk in to the center of Stratford it only took a few mins to get to the first pub, resturant or shop.
All in all we enjoyed our time at the hotel after our first night in the cupboard!!

Easy to find and close enough to walk to all attractions. Great B & B with comfortable beds and ample room to open your case. Thankyou to Tim for all the information regarding places to see and where to eat. Breakfast was fantastic with ample food provided. Parking is also provided close by and big enough for a 9 seater van.
