“Like coming home”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

I booked this based on other TA reports and it is just a wonderful place to stat. Ours was an arrive late and leave early but Simon and Sue make you feel like you're their only guest and family that's come home.

The location across from a park and walking to every place just moments away. Perfect.

We were stuck with a large minivan that Sue called the Beast! It was but Simon so kindly took the wheel from this nervous American driver and parked it for me as well as brought it around the next morn.

If you are heading to Stratford, head "home" to the Adelphi.

Room Tip: We were in room 4, upstairs. Loved it as it looked out onto the park.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.review. I'm so glad you felt at "home" for your all too short stay in Stratford. The "beast" will not be forgotten and certainly was a challenge up a narrow lane.I was so glad I was not driving it and take my hat off to you for doing so. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and had no more car problems. We hope you will come "home " again. Best wishes Simon and Sue

I cannot say enough how utterly delightful it was to spend two nights here, and wish we could have stayed longer. So many small fine details to describe, I need 400 words :-). Such as the soft terry cloth robe, fine soaps, plethora of outlets for charging devices, soft comfy bed linens, beautiful place settings, wide gallery-like collection of artwork and object d'art , perfectly poached eggs, accessibility to major attractions, fantastic hospitality, sound advice on what to see and do, I highly recommend this place. Thank you simon and a Susan!!!!

Thank you for writing this review and what a title "Top Notch and Utterly Delightful". We wished you had stayed longer. We love it when guests appreciate the art and the object d'art. We hope should you return to these parts we can show you more of the works. However we know that France beckons. Best wishes Simon and Sue.

This is a fantastic place to stay.
Sue & Simon are wonderful hosts and look after guests in their home with the greatest of care. The rooms are immaculate, breakfast fresh, ample and served with a smile-best smoked salmon ever.
Within walking distance of the town, what more could you want.
Complimentary cakes, fruit and water the list of positives is endless.

Room Tip: Room 1 with private terrace a real bonus.

Thank you for such a "positive" review. We loved having you to stay. You were lucky the weather allowed you to use the patio, as the next guests would of needed wet suits to venture out. We hope you will return soon for more smoked salmon. Also there must be more Canterbury tales to swap.Best wishes Simon and Sue

I stayed at the Adelphi with 3 of my female friends. We had 2 twin rooms. They were very clean and comfortable. The whole house was decorated with beautiful antique furniture and the attention to detail was lovely. When we arrived our hosts, Sue and Simon, provided us with a wonderful afternoon tea that was beautifully laid out in the dining room and included home made cakes and gingerbread (the gingerbread is out of this world)! These cakes, along with fruit, were always available in the hall for guests to help themselves to. This was just the beginning of the very welcoming hospitality we received over the course of our weekend. One of my friends was ill on the Saturday night and Sue was very caring, providing items to make her feel better. I could go on and on about how great everything was but I think you should go and find out for yourselves!

Thank you we do appreciate when guests write reviews. We are glad you enjoyed tea and the gingerbread. A closely guarded recipe from Congleton hence the name. It is always nice having a group of friends stay and we hope you will come again soon. Best wishes Simon and Sue

Thank you Simon and Sue for a lovely weekend stay at the Adelphi. Rooms were very tastefully decorated with really comfortable beds and lovely bedlinen. Breakfast was amazing cooked to order fresh hot and delicious and plenty of choice. A lovely welcome touch of homemade cakes and tea on arrival. Gingerbread was amazing! Even a touch of first aid in the guise of marmite and crackers Sue will know what I mean!! A lovely couple a wonderful weekend.

Room Tip: We stayed in room four. Quiet and spacious with a lovely bathroom and big fluffy towels.

Thank you for this review. We are glad you have fully recovered. Hardly first aid, but the trick of Marmite and crackers was given to us when suffering from sun stroke in Egypt, and it seems to work. We do hope another of your School reunions brings you back to Stratford and we see you again. Best wishes Simon and Sue

I had a wonderful stay at Adelphi! Sue and Simon are so sweet and welcoming and willing to answer all your questions. The breakfast was delicious and there was lovely variety. The beds were so comfy - I miss the pillows, haha! I really enjoyed by stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Stratford. :)

Thank you for taking the time to sign up and write a review. We are glad the pillows left such an impression. It was a delight having you and your fellow students to stay. It is always fun discussing the plays. We hope you will return one day, perhaps with your family. Best wishes

The Adelphi is genuinely one of the most welcoming B&B’s we’ve ever visited. Run by a lovely couple (Simon and Sue), who provide a very personal and accommodating service, it is ideally located at the heart of the town. Many of the main attractions are no more than a five minute walk away, including the theatres, river, birthplace, houses, restaurants/pubs and church. Free parking is provided or the nearby train station isn’t far away. The Rooms are spotless, tastefully furnished and decorated and very well equipped (TV, DVD, clock radio, en suite shower etc) The choice offered at breakfast was extremely wide, ranging from a full English, cereal and toast to something a little more imaginative. We tried both options and they were lovely, as were the readily available homemade cakes. If we return to Stratford we know where we’d be staying. Highly recommended!
