“Superb Guest House with Warm Welcome and Excellent Food”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

My partner booked a one night stay at Sue and Simon's Guest House last week and we were not disappointed.
We arrived mid morning when rooms were still being serviced, but were welcomed into the dining room and offered homemade cake and tea which were delicious.
Our room was delightful - tastefully decorated, clean and well maintained.
Sue and Simon couldn't do enough to welcome us - lending us maps, giving directions to local attractions and even lending us a programme to the theatre show we'd booked for the evening.
Overnight was quiet and the bed very comfortable.
Breakfast (which you are asked to order by individual item the night before) was cooked well and used tasty good quality ingredients.
Despite only booking for the one night, we were allowed to leave our car in the car park for a second day while we walked up to the racecourse for a food festival saving us considerable cost with car park charges.
All in all an excellent stay!
The accommodation is well appointed (5 minute pleasant walk to centre of town), pleasantly decorated and very homely.
Thank you Sue and Simon for making my Birthday weekend so enjoyable!

Thank you for writing this review. We are so glad you enjoyed your birthday weekend. We are sorry we did not know it was a birthday treat . We have programmes to all the current productions as it is so useful to remind one self of the plot before going. So we are always willing to lend guests a copy. The Food Festival certainly seems to have been popular. One year we will get there. We hope you will return to Stratford one day. Best wishes Simon and Sue

The Adelphi is a world above the rest: welcoming, beautiful, comfortable, fairly priced, and delicious. Sue and Simon are not only friendly but thoughtful, kind, and attentive to detail. My daughter bit into Sue's homemade gingerbread and said, "Now I know what I've been missing!" The breakfasts are justly famous, and Sue really gets it about accommodating food allergies. We stepped into the Family Room on the top floor and gasped at its royal splendor. It has the Old World Charm, together with a luxurious contemporary bath. I didn't even like B&Bs before I found this place.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go for Room 6 on the top floor.

What an accolade"Best B&B in the world" thank you. We were delighted that your daughter enjoyed the ginger bread and the other treats that accommodated her restrictions. It is always a pleasure when guest notice the Royal theme (Crown cushions on the large bed ) in the family room. Thank you for the review. Should your busy schedule allow you to soak up Shakespeare again it would be a pleasure to see you . Promise there will be ginger bread. .Best wishes Simon and Sue

We highly recommend this guest house.

From the minute we arrived at Adelphi we felt so welcome and at home. Sue and Simon are brilliant hosts, very warm and friendly. They gave us lots of good tips and advice about where to go and what to do. The rooms are beautifully decorated, very comfortable and spotlessly clean!

The location is perfect if you want to see Stratford-upon-Avon as everything is within walking distance.

Aside our hosts the thing we liked the most about staying at the Adelphi was the little touches like homemade cakes and fresh fruit put out for all guests to help themselves and having a bottle of water left outside our room before bed.

We will definitely be back! :)

Thank you for this review. So glad you enjoyed the "little touches"such as the home-made cakes and fruit in the Hall. Also the cold water delivered in the evening to the room doors. The fact The Adelphi is so central we find allows guest to see most of what Stratford has to offer very easily. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Adelphi soon. Best wishes Simon and Sue

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Adelphi only for a couple of nights but we absolutely loved it!!The room we were staying in (Four Poster Premier Room) was simply amazing. It was spacious, clean and nicely decorated! The bed was so comfortable that we had difficulties to get up in the morning. There is en-suite bathroom with all the necessary toiletries (Scottish Fine Soaps) and towels provided.
Breakfast was simply delicious! We had a few options to go for (you have to decide a night before by ticking the mini list your options- we thought that was an excellent idea).
Our hosts Sue and Simon were very charming!!Simon kindly helped us carrying our bags upstairs and gave us a few helpful tips about getting around, restaurants, etc.
We cannot praise enough how much we enjoyed staying at Adelphi guest house. It is very central also.On our next trip to Stratford we already know where we will be staying- it is an obvious choice for us!!Thanks Sue and Simon!!!

Thank you for this review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in the four poster room. Guests certainly find the bed very comfortable and often comment that it is difficult to get up as they are so snug. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes Simon and Sue

We loved the Adelphi. The bed was comfortable and the breakfasts were fabulous. The eggs were cooked just right. You can walk to most attractions and to the theater. Sue and Simon made us feel right at home, gave us good advise on what to see and do...and we hated to leave. Room number 2 is on the back of the house and very quiet with a king sized bed. There's parking on site. With all this, it's a good value.

Thank you for writing us a review. We are very glad you enjoyed your stay and fond it "Convenient, comfortable and good value". Our eggs are free range we are glad you enjoyed them. At the moment the yolks are a bright orange, so we think the hens are eating spring flowers. We hope you will return one day for a longer stay. Until then best wishes Simon and Sue

I booked this based on other TA reports and it is just a wonderful place to stat. Ours was an arrive late and leave early but Simon and Sue make you feel like you're their only guest and family that's come home.

The location across from a park and walking to every place just moments away. Perfect.

We were stuck with a large minivan that Sue called the Beast! It was but Simon so kindly took the wheel from this nervous American driver and parked it for me as well as brought it around the next morn.

If you are heading to Stratford, head "home" to the Adelphi.

Room Tip: We were in room 4, upstairs. Loved it as it looked out onto the park.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.review. I'm so glad you felt at "home" for your all too short stay in Stratford. The "beast" will not be forgotten and certainly was a challenge up a narrow lane.I was so glad I was not driving it and take my hat off to you for doing so. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and had no more car problems. We hope you will come "home " again. Best wishes Simon and Sue
