I am a regular vistor to Stratford upon Avon and I can quite honestly say I wouldn't stay anywhere else other than here. The service I receive each visit is second to none. The owners are very friendly. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in ! It is in a nice quiet area so you are guaranteed a peaceful nights sleep. Breakfasts are substantial - and if you are lucky, you might get to sample Sharons home baking (banana bread and muffins in particular). Would recommend to anyone - you will not be disappointed. John

Sharon and Liz were warm, friendly and welcoming, and our room was fresh, clean and modern. Breakfast was extremely tasty, with lots of choice. Good location for walking into Stratford. Would recommend it to family and friends, and would definitely go back again.

In a town where every street is lined with B&B’s, we found a real gem at the Carlton Guest House. The friendly service and comfortable accommodations we enjoyed during our brief stay left us wishing we had more time to spend in Stratford-upon-Avon.

We were warmly welcomed by Sharon when we arrived early in the afternoon. After showing us to our room, she kindly directed us to the footpath leading to Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. This lovely 15-minute walk saved us an expensive ride in a cab or tour bus. And upon our return, she surprised us with fresh-baked banana bread and blueberry muffins!

The location is perfect; it’s a short walk to everywhere including the Shakespeare birthplace, theater, shops, and restaurants. Sharon and Ross will gladly provide directions and recommendations for all the town’s attractions.

Our room was cozy, well-decorated, with all the amenities including TV and tea kettle. Though the room felt a bit crowded, we were grateful for the plush double bed. We had a wonderful night’s sleep.

The other half of a B&B is the breakfast, and this one was a treat. A hearty meal in the English tradition, served with a large amount of geniality by Elizabeth. In fact, we were charmed by the entire family. They even offered us a ride to the train station to save us a 10-minute walk. And when we left behind a shopping bag with souvenirs of our Stratford visit, they gladly mailed it to us.

It’s that kind of thoughtful service that makes the Carlton Guest House stand head and shoulders above the crowd!

The B&B had modern, tastfully decorated bedrooms. Very clean with all the essentials. Breakfast was also of good value - full English, cereal, fruit, cakes etc. Owner made us feel very welcome and offered to help us during our stay in any way she could. The bed was also very comfortable.

My friend Lorraine and I go away for a weekend together every year, and this year chose Stratford on Avon and the Carlton Guest House. The house is a few minutes walk from the station and it felt like a bonus not to have to take a taxi with our luggage. Infact the location is one of the best things about the guest house- very close to the river, RSC theatre, and all the main attractions. We were given a warm welcome by the owner, who obviously wanted to make sure we were comfortable. The only disappointment was our twin bedded room - it was clean and had been recently decorated, but felt small and cramped. The two beds were pushed together, against the wall and Lorraine had to clamber over my bed to get into her own. However breakfast was fabulous - great choice and quality, and lots of locally sourced produce.

Main tip - don't bother taking the bus to Anne Hathaway's cottage -it is a pretty 15 minute walk from the Guest House and the owner will give you directions to get there
