Except it isn't. It's the birthplace of the most important man in the history of literature! I'd recommend a visit if you're in the neighbourhood and are a Shakespeare, if you're not into that kind of thing then you will not get it.

It is such an old house, unique architecture, so so old, surprised it is still standing. Pass by and have a look, a bit pricey to enter and our time didn't allow therefore I cannot comment on inside tour.

We bought the five house ticket that is on offer by the Birthplace Trust as we had two days to spend in Stratford. This was fantastic value for money as all the houses inculded in the price are beatifully preserved and maintained and are staffed by enthusiastic and helpful staff.
The birthplace house is accessed through a museum which sits above the Trust's Shakespeare archive. There are films and various exhibits to browse before a chance to see one of the few First Folios still in existance. The house itself has been furnished faithfully to the time in which Will would have lived there with his father's glove making workshop recreated on the ground floor. The guides througout have a vast knowledge and are happy to answer any questions, one in the birth bedrooms dealt with a particularly noisy school party skilfully and politely (as a school teacher myself, I would have been mortified if my students were asked to behave by attraction staff!)
All in all, a fantastic experience. The two actors in the garden reciting from Henry IV were a particularly highlight. Worth a second visit for sure!
