The boat trip down the canal was lovely! very informative as it was an audio tour but a little short for the cost.

Stratford always delights when I visit. It has this ability of feeling quite modern even though its history suggest it shouldn't. From spending time sitting by the Canal watching the world go by, to the busy shopping area's, the pace never feels too slow or too fast, but somehow, just right. Of course the right weather helps and on the day we arrived it was bright sunshine and an acceptable level of heat. My wife and I spent time shopping for a while and looking in the different historic buildings before having a picnic by the canal. The area always appears to be clean and tidy and although it was busy, it didn't feel over crowded. There were local students playing instruments around the place giving some entertainment and although one of them blatantly couldn't sing, it didn't ruin the overall feeling that was given. I think the highlight of the day for me was finding the Nutcracker shop oppisite Shakesperes house. An all year round Christmas shop that had Christmas trees decorated, fake snow falling and santa decorations dotted around the shop, whilst well known Christmas songs were blaring out really made you feel good, even in July.

The boat trips are must to see the sights from the water. There is wildlife, Ths Theatre, The Church where Shakespear was buried and a peek at how the othe half live whilst sipping a nice cool wine with a scream scone, lovely.

If you want to relax for a few days, there is no better way than to hire a canal boat on this lovely stretch of water.
We hire a boat at Anglo Welsh for 3 days (weekends) or 4 days (midweek).at Wooton Wawen, near Henley in Arden, and head for Stratford upon Avon. Go for their new Bond Class boats for extra comfort. If you haven't done it before, the staff will show you how.
Do the trip in a day each way if your energetic, pause for a while on the way and enjoy the likes of Mary Arden's Farm at Wilmcote, a few minutes walk from the canal.
More in the centre of Stratford in the Bancroft basin and be minutes away from all the main attractions. If you do not mind a thousand people watching and judging your boating skills, moor in the main basin, the shyer ones should find space on the canal cut just before the basin.
