“Great place to run”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

I was surprised to find somewhere to run away from the traffic. This trail along an old railway track passes through fine country and connects to the paths along the river Avon!

“A good ride!”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

We rented two mountain bikes from the Stratford Bike Hire which was a short walk from the free car park. We paid £10 each for half-a-day. Helmets were provided. The bikes were acceptable for this ride although mine needed a new bottom-bracket as pressure on the pedals made a crunching noise and feel.

A round trip was suppose to be 10 miles but felt shorter as we covered the distance quite quickly but at a slow pace. There are benches along the way to have a rest. The path is almost dead-flat and straight so to complete it didn’t require too much effort. The weather was sunny and path was dry but dusty. The path is more gravel and dirt track than paved so I can imagine it being quite muddy if conditions are wet. You will need to get off to cross a minor road and get through gates.

We had lunch at The Mason Arms which is a short ride off the path. Heading back from the end of the path take the first left down Wyre Lane and follow the road to the end. At the junction with Pear Tree Close, turn right and the pub is a short distance on the left. There are toilets available as there aren’t any along the ride during the weekdays. The alternative is to hide behind the bushes. We were told that the Cafés/toilets along the path are only open during the weekends.

We were able to return the bikes before the half-day was up but a good half-a-day to a day was required. Bring a bottle of drink and some snacks.

We will come back again with our own bikes and hopefully leaving with less saddle-sore.

“Better for walking than biking!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

We took or bikes for a ride along the Greenway and it has some lovely scenery but it was quite uneven in places where the ground had been repaired/filled in with rubble. We also found it quite difficult to negotiate the number of 'kissing gates' along the way with the bikes, but other than this it was a nice route.

“A great place for a family walk/ride”
Reviewed 8 July 2014 via mobile

We live locally but having just moved to the area this was our first trip to the greenway. Parking at the stratford end was easy and free. We wanted to hire bikes from the stratford bike hire place located in the railway carriage. This was a nightmare - nobody there on arrival (no mention of it on website but you apparently need to call ahead), nearly 2 hours later someone came along. We did however enjoy a nice bike ride along the greenway, beautiful countryside, fantastic view of the racecourse and easy family friendly paths. We couldn't ride the whole way with the children's bike trailer as all the gates were locked - you'll need a radar key apparently. The bike hire place didn't have one. We'll definitely return with our own bikes and a radar key.

“Greenway”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

Free parking. Closing time seems to be linked to hours of darkness during the year. Work that out for yourselves. Very pleasant walk through the countryside on ex railway line. Good quality hardcore path for cycling. Various offshoot routes through fields by the river more rustic and unprepared pathway.
