“Good for children”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Has large carpark, toilet facilities loads of fun things for children certainly worth taking them for a fun few hours. Nearly always an ice cream van nearby, also has picnic area. The advantage of the Recreation Ground playground is that there are two defining areas for childrens ages.

“Great safe jogging circuit but pathetic calisthenics equipment ever !”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

This is a lovely recreational space and the jogging here is 100% safe, flat with good grass areas, with many dog walkers and other locals enjoying the river.

However, in the corner near the childrens play equipment you will see about five or so of the most pathetic, useless and under used calisthenics stations ever. Go and check it out for a giggle. None of the standard great kit - no step boxes, parrell bars, chin bars, no variable resistence kit for Stratford no. Have a giggle and check it out - all housed in the dampest, shaded area of the rec.

“A nice rest for us and play for the kids”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

A clean, tidy and safe place for us to take a breather and for the kids to run around playing with wooden swords they purchased from the theatre gift shop. Lovely riverside walk and lots of safe things for the kids to fool around on and tire themselves out. I imagine it's even better in the summer with all the flowers in bloom but the autumn leaves were still beautiful.

“Quieter spot”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

2 people - early p.m. early in the week.

Paused here on a short circular walk (involving Clopton Bridge and the Chain Ferry). Lovely riverside area to perhaps sit ,chat, read or picnic as seemed considerably quieter to Bancroft on the opposite bank, whilst still offering many of the same lovely vistas just from a different viewpoint. Unfortunately before too long we had to move on to complete our stroll.
[NOTE! - these comments are very much about the area close to the river, we have no experience of the playground area, etc. ( see other people's reviews for that).

“WOW!!!!!!!”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 via mobile

What a playground, second to none !!!!!!
We visited this place on a sunday after the butterfly farm, it is a quality play area and if you live in the area you are blessed with a great facility, we live an hour away and would gladly travel to this.
