All the plays we saw at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre were great! I don't think there is a single seat in there that is not good.

A few years ago the Royal Shakespeare Theatre was redesigned with the stated view of bringing the audience closer to the action. We visited two years ago and swore never to go again as the seats we had in the upper circle were very uncomfortable giving a poor view of the top of the actors heads and of only half the stage. Despite this we went again last week getting seats in the stalls (Row H has a bit more leg room) and really enjoyed the experience. So be very careful which seats you book and do not believe the hype about all the seats being good. We have talked to a lot of people who all agree the upper circle seats are not worth the money. The back stage tour is very interesting. I would advise eating elsewhere as the food is expensive.

I keep going because of the plays and the performances, but the main house is a bit of a disaster. The thrust stage is terrific, but the seats are uncomfortable and too often fields of view are restricted by badly places hand rails. Whoever was responsible for the re-design should be put out of business. The Swan Theatre is much better, intimate and more comfortable, but rather cramped.
Prices are too high. Last time I paid £40 for the Upper Circle and 3 hours of discomfort.

After purchasing tickets late in the afternoon for the evening performance and being warned we would have a restricted view, I approached the evening with a small degree of trepidation. However the view was not restricted and I spent an evening being thoroughly entertained by one of the finest performances of Henry IV part one I have seen. My only complaint is the lack of leg room, but being 6 foot four, I don't expect many people to have this problem.

While looking through the brochures presented to us by the owner of the bed & breakfast place we were booked into in Stafford Upon Avon we can across the RSC's leaflet and decided to book the Theatre Tour. Absolute value for money!!!! So interesting and the lady who guided us around was so informative, pleasant and interesting. What an amazing place. Such a pity we did not book a show when we arrived as we just ran out of time. The Swan Theatre looks and feels so comfortable inspiring you to book a show!!!
