First time at the re-built Swan. Old facade retained, presumably for heritage reasons, which for my part are badly misplaced, but that's a matter of taste. THe new auditorium is much more intimate than the old, with the seating at the sides being only four rows deep so the people at he back were right in the action. Centre stage the seating is deeper bu no less intimate. Three tiers to create different angles. Of course, with any theatre you are there to watch the show and the quality of the place is displayed in how little you notice the surroundings! Very much waiting for the next production.

Want to get close the actors? Then the Swan like the larger theatre get you close to the action, however being a smaller more intimate venue the Swan intensifies the action. Seats in the stalls are on a shared benched seat, which for some may not be too comfortable, however definately do not let that put you off, you have to see at least one play in each theatre.

The Swan Theatre has an intimate, warm atmosphere, with a bar which stays open after the performances to meet and chat. Many of the actors use this bar after their performances to unwind.
Upstairs is a restaurant which is open on Sundays for lunch too. The food is very good and the views across the river are wonderful!
