very interesting production, good staging and use of the Haitian/Egyptian setting. the secondary actors were particularly good. the theatre itself is interesting in that it's set up like a Shakespearean theatre. unfortunately we bought tickets right up on the right on the 2nd floor which gave us a bit of a neck strain, but we knew that before we bought the tickets so can't complain. a few people seemed to have come along for the fact of seeing a shakespeare play (to tick off on their tourist list) rather than actually understanding the play so that was a bit disappointing, but you can't really fault the theatre for that. enjoyable experience and lovely building.

I didn't have time to see their current production, but saw the theater, which is warm, and comfortable and wonderfully thought out, is directly adjacent to the main RSC theater, and in a beautiful, old building, something to see in itself. As far as quality, if it's on at the Swan, I knew it would be good.

We saw the new Antony and Cleopatra production. The whole performance was absolutely mesmerising, especially as the theatre is a modern take on an original theatre of the time with a two storey gallery surrounding three sides of the stage so that you are almost part of the performance rather than just a spectator. A truly wonderful experience. After the show we were having a late supper and the whole cast walked into the virtually empty restaurant (it was very late). As we were leaving we just had to say how much we enjoyed the performance and they were all so friendly and chatted to us for a while. The perfect end to the perfect day.

We very much enjoyed an updating of a Thomas Middleton show. The theatre is bright and modern and conveniently part of the main theatre complex in Stratford.
