The resident company at the Attic Theatre, Tread the Boards, have been entertaining people in Stratford-upon-Avon for a few years now. I have been lucky enough to see quite a few of their productions and they do an amazing job. The venue is very small and intimate and TTB make the most of the space by producing theatre that simply would not work in a larger venue The small space means that it is the ideal spot for young children to have their first experience of theatre whether it be the winter panto or one of the Fringe shows specifically for children brought in, such as The Wind in the Willows by by Shooting Stars Theatre Company. All in all I would say give them a try you won't regret it.
We went to see phantom of the opera on Saturday at the Attic. I have never been before and therefore was not sure what to expect. It was a great night, fab acting and very scary production. Would recommend and def interested to see what they are doing next.
On the 31st October , All Hallows Eve, I found myself in Stratford with nothing to do. I stumbled upon the Box Office of the Attic Theatre. The gentleman in the box was rather entertaining and without a hard sell encouraged me (and my friends) to attend and I am so glad I did. It is a small intimate Theatre with a talented cast. The performance had me on the end of my seat. It was not the musical version ,the music generally lifts the story which is very intense, however the somber story is told in such a way to entertain. The use of light and props and the cast sitting in with the audience during the performance adds to the atmosphere.
It is possible to get drinks from the Lazy Cow and bring them into the Theatre and also pop in their for drinks during the intermission. All leading to a very enjoyable evening.
Thank you very much for coming along and supporting Tread the Boards Theatre Company in our Halloween production of Phantom of the Opera. The show received wonderful reviews and we are delighted you enjoyed yourself.
We hope to see you back at the Attic Theatre soon
Many thanks
An OUTSTANDING production! Splendidly melodramatic & very entertaining indeed.
Superb acting skills! Don't miss it during this ghostly week!
We saw "an inspector calls" last night and it was very good, especially for £10 a ticket. Great if you want to see a play in Stratford but don't feel up to a 3-hour Shakespeare (no offence to the Bard)!
We shared the intimate auditorium with a lot of school-age children (GCSE age) but they were quiet during the performance, and well behaved considering they were there on a Friday night.
After the play the actors held an "after dark" question-and-answer discussion for anyone who wanted to ask them questions, we didn't stay for this as we had a long journey home to make, but this must have been invaluable for any students studying the play.
The intense pace of the play was maintained at all times, despite the fact that the audience were very close by (the auditorium was literally three rows of seats in front of and to the left and right of the performing area) they never once broke character. In the part when "the inspector" walks onto the stage you could hear a pin drop, his stage presence was that strong. All in all a good value for money evening. I also highly recommend "the lazy cow" restaurant (in the same building) to get something to eat or drink beforehand.
We attended a production of 'Mid summer Nights Dream' by Tread the Boards Theatre Company in the Attic Theatre Stratford upon Avon. It was very funny with talented actors. The four of us really enjoyed.
It's a small theatre right in the attic of the Lazy Cow building near the canal in Stratford. It got a bit warm there in this afternoon production, but we were allowed to bring our own refreshments. There were around fifty of us in the audience. There was room for around extra thirty to forty people in my opinion.
We paid £10 per adult and £8 per child. Reasonable price in my opinion compared to ticket prices in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
