This was our second visit to the Stratford Waterways Premier Inn, and we enjoyed it even more than last time.
We stayed for 2 nights and had a first floor room overlooking the canal lock. The room was spotless and very comfortable.
From check-in onwards the staff were without exception cheerful, efficient, smart and could not have done more to make us feel welcome. Hutch in the Thyme restaurant stood out in particular, calling us by name and going the extra mile to make our meals a pleasure. We ate in the hotel on both evenings, and the food was good and reasonably priced. The restaurant is small, but if you time breakfast to avoid the 9.00 rush there is no need to wait, and the buffet is as fresh at 10.30 as it is at 7.30.
The car park is long and narrow, and if you arrive late as we did you have a 200+ yard walk to the entrance, but once people checked out the next morning we were able to move the car to within 10 yards of reception. At £3 per day it is good value.
Waterways may be further from the river and Bancroft Basin than the sister Premier Inn Stratford Central, but is probably closer to Henley Street and benefits from having parking and its own restaurant in-house rather than a neighbouring TableTable. Stratford is a delightful town only 2 hours drive away from us, and ideal for a weekend break. We will certainly go back, but only when we can book into the Waterways!
