“Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

We followed the brown signs for the College Arms from the Statford road. With a choice of restaurant, or garden we opted for the garden. The roast beef was very nice with plenty of gravy and we didnt have to wait too long.

A small amount of confusion in paying our bill was soon overcome despite the bar being very busy.

Lovely village setting and beautifully presented rooms; one thing to be careful of which is hardly their fault is that the village church right opposite rang out its bells, extremely loudly, every hour of the night and this was tad annoying but not much they can do! Was not so impressed with the food though; paid about 18 pound for a steak I think which was of dubious quality to say the least, also got the Crusty Bread and Olives starter . now whatever I was exprecting 'Crusty Bread' to be it was not just a few cut slices of french baguette .. also the olives were not of the plump juicy variety one usually gets with this. thus didnt bother with a desert and went up the village shop for an ice cream. also the breakfast didnt start til after 9 which was too late for me. Still cause of the nice rooms its worth a 4/5!

so sorry you did not enjoy our food ,a shame you could not have said when asked if every thing was ok .
breakfast was severed at 8 this morning by request (you only have to ask)
the church clock is a problem , been there for 100s of years ,will have a word with him upstairs see if a bolt of lightening may solve problem, most people see it has a part of village life x

Stayed at The College Arms with family for three nights, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, the breakfast by Marilyn the landlady were superb as were the evening meals we ate in the fantastic restaurant. The Guest ales were very well kept and the welcome and service we received throughout our trip was of a very high standard. Would recommend The College Arms highly, and we will be back soon.

Lovely day, lovely setting, lovely old pub, would love to say lovely food but really disappointing. Starter of feta and melon salad consisted of 3 halves of grape, 5 less than thumb nail sizes of feta and 3 minute pieces of melon., lettuce that was so old and limp only matched by the heap of cucumber. The others had patty with cheap value loaf white bread and the patty looked shop bought. Main courses of Gammon, Chicken and Beef. A combination of Paxo stuffing, very thin and tasteless gravy, Aunt Bessie's yorkshire pudding, and I would say both the Chicken and Beef were just heated up from a again bought in portion sizes. The potatoes may have been house cooked. Should have guessed by the lack of people eating. Shame, the setting and potential is vast - gammon was OK though.

Driving between Stratford Upon Avon and Hidcote garden we came across the College Arms because we missed the turning on the SatNav instructions. The new route led us through Lower Quinton. The village itself resembles something from the movies - a duck pond, a farm, thatched roofed cottages with flowered borders and St Swithins Church. Having seen The College Arms from the road we decided on impulse to see if they served lunch.

There wasn't a huge choice of lunch dishes on the menu but we were able to order two starters instead of a main meal.

Both meals - mushroom, bacon, black pudding and stilton sauce and Potted Brie with redcurrant jelly were freshly prepared and the flavours good. We were able to eat them out in the sunshine with a couple of drinks.

I cannot think of a nicer lunch experience.

We were staying in a cottage down the road, and this was a great place to have a pint. Nice beers, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming...and so were the dogs! Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

This was our first time visiting the Stratford area. My cousin had previously made the arrangements and we were thrilled with his choice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The service was amazing.

We ate dinner in the dining room twice and both times the food and service were wonderful. My husband asked if lamb was available (knowing how much I love it) and they added it to the menu the next evening!

I can't say enough about this Inn and hope to visit again.
