“Ingenious, not mad at all”
Reviewed 8 October 2012

Heard about it earlier in the year and as we were looking for a new outing with the kids and grandma decided to try this museum. It set back from the main road and a bit small, but have enough to see, touch and think about to keep kids and adults entertained. 5 – 105 old boys (and girls) will find this museum an inspiration. Most mention that the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Many thanks for coming to see us at the museum. We aim to offer a friendly and exciting experience from the moment you walk in until the minute you leave. A great welcoming smile and helpful team is something we make sure all our visitors experience.

We do try to maximise on the space we have available and with over 100 exhibits across 2 floors, I hope we have filled it as much as possible with something for everyone to see and enjoy - no matter the age!

Please do come again soon
Many thanks once again for your great review.

“Unique. Excellent.”
Reviewed 28 September 2012

Fairly small building houses a large number of displays of mechanical contraptions (animated art). Many varieties -extreme ingenuity, weird, surprising, interactive, clever, funny....
Well worth a visit. Kids loved it too (though not as much as Dad)

Dear Rusty Rustic
Thank you for reviewing The MAD Museum, we are so pleased the whole family enjoyed the visit. As many of our visitors have commented the museum offers fun and excitement for all ages and often it is the older 'kids' (Dad's) which seem to enjoy it even more.

Please do come and visit us again soon - we are continually changing and adding new items to the museum - so next time you visit I hope it will be different again.

Many thanks
Katie

Dear Michael

Thanks so much for visiting the MAD museum, we hope you had a great time. With Stratford being such a historic town, large buildings are few and far between and we hope we have maximised the space we have to fill it with as many interesting and unusual mechanical pieces as we can.

Many people find us for some refuge on rainy days but equally when the sun is out, the lure of something quite quirky also serves us well.

I am very pleased you enjoyed your visit and we hope that you will return again soon.

Thanks again for your feedback

“Delight for Heath Robinson/steampunk fans”
Reviewed 26 September 2012

Great mental stimulation. MAD museum (Mechanical Art and Design) is a relatively new Heath Robinson-ish machine cacophony of automata, kinetic art, and steampunk, with lots of cog wheels and marble runs with unexpected noises - toys for children of all ages. They were motion sensor-activated or just push-button; one clapped after you did. A great couple of hours!

Dear Doctor Flo

Thank you for such a glowing review about the museum, we are so pleased you found our exhibits to be so captivating. Certainly we aim to offer a wide range of machines which delight and amuse our visitors. The clapping machine is one of our firm favourites and appeals to all ages. We hope there is something for the big kids who loved making things as a child and for the new generation who can see a bit of physics in action rather than on the internet!

Many thanks and come back and see us soon!
