Owner description: Stratford upon Avon is most famous for being the birthplace of poet and play writer William Shakespeare, but why not try something completely outside of the box and visit the towns newest most exciting attraction- The MAD (Mechanical Art & Design) Museum. As soon as you step into this quirky attraction you'll be greeted with whirling robotics, churning clogs, rolling ball circuits, ingenious design and crazy sounds! The MAD Museum does what it says on the tin, showcasing an absolutely MAD assortment of Kinetic Art, Automata and Steampunk contraptions, gadgets and gismos. Venture into an eccentric world of moving art; The MAD Museum is a wonderful place to watch and interact with an astonishing assortment of both modern and old fashioned, yet highly innovative and elaborate machines! For the young ones: Dancing lasers, rolling ball machines, roaring mechanical dinosaur heads and whirligigs all with lots of buttons to press! The MAD Museum offers an exciting visit with an educational bias, relevant to curriculum modules such as Design & Technology and Science. We give children an experience that is worthwhile, educationally beneficial and also a lot of fun!

Wasn't quiet sure what to expect but we were not disappointed !
My 10 year old son loved it and I must admit I thought The Mad Museum was pretty cool! Lots to see, touch and play with.
A real eye opener and thought provoker !
It was quiet went we visited so we were able to take our time and have lots of fun !
Not a very big place but definetly worth a visit.

“great for adults”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

I'd looked this up online and thought it wouldn't really suit us but we loved it! Access was great via a lift and there were lots of buttons to press and things to watch. I went back to some things more than once just to try and work them out!

“Welcoming”

Took a group of children to this museum and have to say I was not looking forward to it! Actually found it very interesting and the staff bent over backwards to make sure our visit was enjoyable and worthwhile. Lots to look at despite being fairly small and very interactive.

“Different”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Visited this small museum with restricted space to view items, although it was quiet on our visit the space is restricted. As a disabled wheelchair user access was good from ground floor using a single lift, but space to see or use the interactive items is restricted. As you would anticipate with the many children that visit looking at the items let alone using them is difficult. Although interesting this is for inquisitive young minds who like to play so be aware. Not good value for money.

“Brilliant!”

We got there early so was really quiet. The kids (5 and 7) had a fab time pressing all the buttons and seeing everything move! It is definitely worth a visit if you are in Stratford.
