“Perfect countryside retreat”

My partner and I have just returned from a lovely weekend stay at oak tree lodge. It really is a home from home. Tina and Steve have really thought of everything to make your stay as trouble free as possible. Being winter I took blankets expecting the lodge to be chilly ( and having seen it had leather sofas) however the lodge was lovely and warm on arrival and stayed that way all weekend. There are also 3 lovely soft blankets on the beds just in case.

We used the lodge as a base to explore the surroundings but if you dont want to leave the lodge you won't see another person the whole weekend. Our only neighbours were 4 well behaved horses in the stables next to the lodge. So if you want peace and quiet this is definitely the place.

We went to the red lion pub at the end of the lane which was lovely. We hadn't booked but the manager squeezed us in (see seperate review). We also used the dolce piazza and sans takeaways in near by Henley in Arden (about a 10 minute drive) which were also good.

Overall a great weekend break. Would definitely recommend.

We booked the Oak Tree Lodge at very short notice for a new year break and couldn't have been happier with it. It had all mod cons and Steve was very accommodating in ensuring the heating was warm enough for when we changed our little one at night. The Lodge is in peaceful countryside, with horses and sheep visible nearby out of the windows, and Henley-in-Arden and Stratford-upon-Avon are both within short drives. Also, the lodge was good value with just the three of us staying, it could easily fit another couple for a great value break.

“Great countryside location”
Reviewed 22 December 2014 for a stay in December 2014

Spent two weeks here in December. The accommodation is very comfortable, spacious and clean. Nice size open plan lounge, kitchen and large bedroom. The area of Claverdon is really nice if you enjoy a countryside setting with lots of potential walks and the town of Henley not too far away. We had a problem with interference on the TV initially but this was resolved very quickly by owner. A couple of points to owner would be to provide a bit more detail on arrival about the property such as how heating is controlled and more local info. Would be lovely to stay here in the summer months. Would recommend the Red Lion pub just a few mins away by car, had a really good meal here.

My mother and I spent three wonderful nights at this well equipped and thoughtfully provided for cottage/barn. A perfect place for someone with limited mobility and an excellent and out of the way location. The cottage is well decorated to a high standard and the main bedroom is huge! The shower room is spacious and pleasing whilst the kitchen is very well equipped and beautifully laid out. - a toast rack would have been a good extra! The welcome pack is thoughtfully planned and will provide the basics for a couple of days. The situation is idyllic and is a great starting point for a wonderful list of 'things to do and see' in the area.

Our thanks

“Very comfortable”
Reviewed 9 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

I live in the area and booked this for visiting family of one adult and three kids. They found the accommodation very comfortable and enjoyed the stay here. As a bonus, the kids got to watch horses swim in the rehab center run by the owner next door which the found really fascinating.

“A very welcoming place to stay”
Reviewed 9 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Booked at the last minute for a short break with the family. The Lodge is in a quiet, rural spot in the countryside. It was very well equipped, modern and clean. We received a welcome pack (which included a bottle of wine) on arrival which was a nice added extra to the holiday. It was less than 20 mins drive to Stratford Upon Avon which is a lovely place to visit, where you can visit William Shakespeare's house, or you can have a boat trip along the river. Staying at the Lodge also meant you were close to some National trust properties.
