Set apart, from the focus on quick, over-priced, pre-or-post, theatre 'meals'.

Here's pub, and, or, bistrot : food, par excellance

Finest drinks and food coupled with excellent welcome smile, warm, unobtrusive service, and retro - REAL pub ambience. Cosy, log fires and umpteen table choices: restricted canine welcome, one area only.

Influenced by French cuisine, bistrot-style excellence: finest quality - IN A PUB

How ?  The Bear, is joined at the " pass "  with Le Bistrot Pierre

. . . haddock/cod fishcake in Dijon mustard sauce

Normandy chicken - slow roasted: choice of 3 authentic sauces

roast vegetable tagine

soup - & pie, or curry of the day - on that day - for patrons seeking just the finest, Typ - Brit,  ' pub ' fayre

Upside : Great range of
'craft beer', poncy lager, trendy hoppy lagers and micro brewed drinks.

Downside : Fallen Angel @ £4:90 a pop.

The Bear offers reasonable prices for Stratford, it's a good location and has a nice atmosphere. But don't think you can order things off of the drinks menu because you will be told you can't have it despite it being in stock. I asked for a glass of Tattinger champagne and was told no because they don't seller enough of it. I don't know why it's on their menu if they won't sell it

Came here midweek early afternoon, 4 guys who love their ales. A great guy with a beard was behind the bar he clearly knew his ales and chatted happily about them before we chose our drink.

Great autumn ales and a porter went down very well.

Very enjoyable afternoon with great ales sat in front of the lovely log fire, really enjoyed it.
