Monk's Barn Farm

We stayed a week, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We stayed in the annex where it was immaculately clean, quiet with just the sounds of sheep, and a perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds and Stratford. Breakfast every morning was wonderfully cooked, included a wide array of choices and in a lovely setting. We've stayed at other places in the Cotswolds - but this will now be our spot when we return. The prices is right and it just makes for a good place to return to after a day exploring the countryside.

We ended up eating almost every evening meal at the New Inn. The food was good, the service friendly and it was so close. We didn't see any need to go anywhere else.

Everything you can look for in a B&B can be found here. I'm just really going to echo what has been said in the other reviews. Monks Barn is in an idyllic location so you get the best of both worlds - peace and quiet on the farm and a less than 5 minute drive into Stratford. It was just over £5 for a taxi in on the Saturday night so we could get a meal and some drinks. The taxi firm knew Monks Barn straight away so I guess people must get taxis quite often. The breakfasts were perfect, lots of tea and coffee! And homemade jam with the toast. Very comfy bed, super kingsize I think. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Stratford who doesn't necessarily want to stay in the town centre.

We've just returned from our second visit to Monks Barn Farm and the B&B is as good as ever.

The rooms are spotless and the breakfasts fabulous with a great selection of cereals to choose from before selecting your cooked breakfast which is cooked to perfection. Rita is a fabulous host and gave us the leftover toast so that my daughter could feed the friendly goats on the farm.

The centre of Stratford is about £6 away in a taxi so it is great for a meal or evening out when you can both have a drink.

We researched our B & B's before leaving home and this one looked just perfect. On arriving we were not disappointed in any way. In fact we consider it was the best by a long way. Rita and her husband Keith have a place that they can be very proud of. They were the friendliest and most helpful couple you could imagine.

Four of us arrived with five days washing and Rita said you don't want to waste time with that; let me do it for you! Washed, folded and waiting on our return from Oxford and at no extra cost. Rita went out of her way to help even to the extent of giving us an old AA road map (only two years old); typed up a touring plan to get us through the sights of The Cotswolds and onto Abergavenny – our next stop.

Our room was on the first floor of the main house and had a delightful view over the paddocks. Our friends’ room was in the guest house where they could watch the lambs frolicking around. Both rooms were tidy, clean and very comfortable. The farm is about two kilometers out of Stratford upon Avon and is very quiet. Close enough to go into town to eat and yet far enough out for a peaceful night’s sleep. The city was really enjoyable and we spent a good three hours walking around looking into the many sights.

The breakfast was served in the dining room at our own table. It is a good sized room allowing conversation with other parties but still enough privacy for each group. The meal was delicious and I have a suspicion Keith may have been in charge in the kitchen!

We couldn’t believe that the bill for two was only fifty pound a night including a full English breakfast. We have no hesitation in recommending the B & B to others and would love to return one day.

Situated not far from Stratford Upon Avon town centre in a lovely countryside setting. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, we were in the annex and had been perfectly placed with adjoining rooms. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival, just as we were every morning at breakfast - which was also very tasty! We had a lively 2 year old with us and she also was made to feel welcome and not frowned upon for being herself! I would certainly recommend this B &B to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing break and still being close enough to enjoy all that Stratford has to offer; I will certainly be returning myself.

This is a lovely B&B on a farm 2 miles south of Stratford. It has fantastic views across the valley, comfortable accommodation and excellent service and breakfast.

We had the two self-contained rooms in the annexe - a double and twin. Both were a decent size and had en suite bathrooms. The rooms are fairly modern in their decor and very handy for families (we had the kids in one room and adults in the other).

The farmhouse has a lovely garden, which is available to guests and has a flock of sheep that graze in the fields next door.

The main reason to stay here is the location - it's a five minute drive into Stratford, 20 minutes to Warwick and has some beautiful secnery around it.

There's a nice walk down across the fields and along the river in the valley which brings you into a pretty village with a decent pub - on a warm summer evening it's the epitome of the English countryside!

We also found an excellent pub 10 minutes drive from there in a tiny hamlet called Lowsonford. The pub (Le Fleur de Lys) is next to the canal and has a waterside garden, good beer and nice, well-priced food-the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon.

If you have kids, I'd also recommend Warwick Castle nearby and Drayton Manor theme park (30mins drive).

About an hours drive NW from London is the beautifull town of Stratford Upon Avon. This is Shakespear land & also home to one of the nicest Castle's , Warwick Castle.
About 2 miles out of town is "Monks Barn Farm" B&B. This is a charming B&B in a lovley quiet country setting. Exquisit rooms & Gourmet cooking. Rita the owner is a excellent host & will do anything for to make your stay more enjoyable. For example, she gave me a power adapter to charge our cellphones when mine did not work. She would not accept any money, however I did compensate her for it.
There are 2 smaller rooms in the main house & 3 larger rooms in a cottage next door. There are also numerous camp sights for Campers or "Caravans" as the British say.
We payed 48 pounds per night per couple including a full Gourmet breakfast, an excellent value. Many nice quaint Pubs in the area for dinner. I would give this B&B a 5* rating.
