Stratford, a haunting ground of mine since I was a teenager, has never been blessed with great restaurants, a bit like the train services from London and Birmingham - they run but nothing special and can take a long time. An exception is The Oppo, right next door to its sister restaurant, the slightly more expensive Lamb's. Both are excellent with the Oppo perhaps shading it at the moment with better value and delightfully, nice if sometimes naive service. Was there last night with my aged sister and, as ever, we were treated beautifully and served excellent food. A specialty is the crispy duck which I, more often than not, have a larger portion as a main course. The choice, however, is wide and varied and you will not be let down by the food, the service or the bill! If only the other restaurants and the transport services could keep up with the theatre and Oppo and Lambs.
