Owner description: Hill Close Gardens are a rare example of victorian detached leisure/pleasure gardens. Once used by townsfolk who lived above their businesses and wanted to escape from the crowded town centre. Owners and tenants came here after work or on Sundays to tend their flowers, fruit and vegetables or to relax. These gardens have been fully restored to their original charm and boasts a visitor centre that can be hired out and is used as a tearoom on weekends and bank holidays through the summer months. The gardens are open all year during weekdays. Plant / produce / gift sales. Special events are put on throughout the year.

Saw this on tripadvisor when planning our visit to Warwick, and wel worth the visit. Interesting history and a great story about why it is still here as it is. You go into some of the gardens which have sheds/summerhouses, when you go into or look through the window, it's as thought the Victorian gardener has just stepped out to work on his allotment,.
The staff and gardener were of great help and able to offer advice, free parking for less than 2 hours. The don't miss the chance to get some plants for home.

This is such an inspiring place. These Victorian era gardens could so easily have been lost to developers or neglect. One can now see and enjoy the gardens saved by volunteers and run by a community trust. Each of the plots has a distinctive character. The cafe has a lovely outlook and a homely feel. There Is an active educational program for schools, gardening enthusiasts and the general public. Plants for sale and, in season, flowers, vegetables and fruit (if one is lucky). Allow plenty of time to explore, relax and enjoy.

These gardens have been restored by volunteers and are beautifully laid out, an oasis of calm near the centre of Warwick with easy parking. Plenty of places to sit and relax if you want to and you can get coffee/tea and cake. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there were some good plants for sale. However, they don't seem to be getting many visitors which is a shame.

I can honestly say that a visit to these gardens is one that will bring surprise.

I don't want to give too much away, as I really think it is a place that you need to discover for yourself, but I will say that it an effort worth making and one that you will want to make more than once.

The site comprises of several different plots, each of which has a different look and feel to it. Some of the plots even have summer houses (of brick and wood construction) that additional displays in that compliment the gardens and the history of them.

There is greenhouse on site that grows plants for sale as well as a cafe that sells lovely cakes, and small gift shop that it stocked with lovely and appropriator items for such an attraction.

They also hold themed events throughout the year, so it it worth checking out their website (www.hillclosegardens.com) before you plan your visit.

I plan to go back in each of the season to see how the gardens change, and next time will be taking along a friend for their 'first time' visit.

Spent a lovely couple of hours wandering around these gardens that reminded me of the gardens I remember in the 1950s.
It did take a while to find as it is not sign posted in Warwick, however it was worth it when we found it.
