Owner description: Charlecote Park has been home to the Lucy family since the 12th century. Their stories are told throughout the house by their portraits, the objects they collected from around the world and the design influence they had on the house and parkland. See how Mary Elizabeth Lucy remodeled the house in Victorian times. The gardens include a formal parterre, woodland walk and the wider parkland (inspired by 'Capability' Brown), which offer walks with picturesque views across the River Avon. A herd of fallow deer has been in the park since Tudor times.

“National Trust star attraction - TRY the food”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

A return visit to the house and estate that we joined the National Trust years ago, for a change our memories of how good it was is not something that present day does not live up to!

This is a great estate and a good house which has great history and easy to understand.

Then there was lunch in the orangery - good choice of great food - one of the party is gluten intolerant and we noticed that they did gluten free bread for their soup, we asked if we could use this and have a bacon roll, the answer of course! What a pleasant change

This place is well worth a visit

“Charlecote House and Park - Great day out”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Go on a sunny day so you can enjoy the parklands surrounding this beautiful house.
Excellent organisation of car parking. Short walk to the house itself on a flat surface and for those with crutches or walking problems a little train is available.
Our family age range is 6 to 76.
In the house and in most areas volunteers were available to explain the history and make sure that we didn't use our camera flashes.
The small cafe the orangerie was fine.
The grounds small enough for a wander and easter egg hunt.
The deer are so tame you can get really close for pictures.
Very well maintained.
Nice garden shop at the exit
Highly recommend for a sunny day out.

“Try the food”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

We went with friends to this location when Stratford upon Avon was full up. The food was factastic. I had Stilton, Ale and beef. Surprisingly good for a location like this. The tour was great, the grounds lovely. Good job.

“Beautiful and free!”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

What a delight! Beautiful park with deer in touching distance. The grounds and outbuildings are immaculate and the staff warm and welcoming. Only able to spend a couple of hours here but will be returning in a few weeks to sample the whole experience.
