Close by Warwick Castle is The Mill Garden. It is at the foot of the now dilapidated Great Bridge that crossed the Avon River. A large variety of plantings set out along winding paths is the general idea. There are benches sprinkled through to allow a person an opportunity to sit and simply enjoy the fragrances, the murmer of the river and the beauty of the flowers.
Like many gardens this one requires a lot of attention. The difference is this garden gets the attention it needs. When I visited it in June, 2011 there were several people working the garden and discussion of what to plant where was taking place. So, if you've been there before a trip back will probably show you something different.
At the entrance to the garden is a house with windows that open on to the garden. This is a private residence so please do not take photos through the windows. Apart from this photography is welcome, or at least well tolerated as I was not stopped from taking several shots.
I spent about an hour here and enjoyed it. It was a peaceful and relaxing break from the usual touring activities.
