ok - not much choice of wines - basic, didn't even have chardonnay??? Food ok. Lacks atmosphere in the place. Only one Cider??? For a big pub like this not good enough

Been to this pub several times. Always does what it says on the tin it's a pub offering good basic pub grub at fair prices..

This day service was severely delayed we were waiing well over 40 minutes as was everyone else.

Obviously bad problems in the kitchen but when he food did arrived it was cooked fresh and well up to standard.

Enter the Manager's representative who apologised offered free deserts and coffee made us as customers feel valued.

It's an old sales tale. Good message you tell 3 people bad message you tell 9. In this intance I wanted to tell more than 9 the good message.

Staying at the Holiday Inn Express we have always eaten at the Porridge Pot. which this year is an absolute disgrace. The staff recommended the Racehorse & we were not disappointed.
Excellent meal, beautifully cooked & presented by friendly, staff. This is a lovely old pub which lends itself well to the title.
Excellent we highly recommend The racehorse & we will be back. Be assured.

Thank Chris H

As my title suggests, this is not a flash expensive restaurant so we don't go there expecting superior levels of service or food.
However, from my experience (been there 20 times or so over the years) what you do consistently get is good food and good, fast, service - couple that with the extremely reasonable prices and that's why it gets a 'very good' overall mark from me.
Warwick Chicken (if you like lots of barbecue sauce) is a favourite, and the chicken curry with chips and rice - yep both - is another.
Beware, food is always stupidly hot when it come out - Warwick Chicken is still bubbling away. Rather that than cold..!!

We were recommended this restaurant by local hotel staff. We visited on a Monday evening, the menu was nothing to brag about. My wife + 12 year old grandson orders lasagne which was quite runny + thin. I ordered a medium cooked steak as we had to wait some time for our food, I would have sent this back. It was really well done. The staff were very unattentive. As this is in a busy tourist area it is not complementary to our country I felt embarrassed to see so many visitors there
