I have just stayed for 3 nights. Marilyn is a very friendly lady and she made the stay worthwhile. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She really looked after me very well. (I should point out that I only had brief but pleasant contact with John.)

I was in a single bedroom at the front of the house, but importantly, I slept soundly throughout my visit. Breakfast in the morning was fine and portion sizes were generous.
The location is great, being right next to the A45, and close both to the NEC and to central Birmingham. The decor was not to my personal taste, but that is a minor point when you are treated this well. The B&B was spotlessly clean.

I've stayed at the Gables Nest twice. Once for 13 months and secondly, for twelve months and I'm still there and hope to be so until my contract in Birmingham finishes in 2011.
Mal and John are amazing hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They maintain and run this guest house to the highest standards possible. They both provide a very professional yet homely attitude to their customers and go out of their way to assist guests when required.
Conclusion: A very comfortable, home from home establishment and great value for money. Give it a try when you visit the area. You won't be disappointed.

This place is a gem and very convenient for loads of places in Birmingham. I chose it because of the earlier v positive reviews. The warm welcome, the good room, two great breakfasts and the bargain price didnt disappoint. I will be back when I am next in Brum.

This B&B is situated right on the A45 but does not suffer from excessive road noise as double glazed. The friendly host welcomed us on arrival (she'd been out tending to the back garden) and we took ourselves up to the decently proportioned room which was clean and freshly aired. The decor is up-together but a bit of a mixture (e.g. the bathroom tiles were part pink, part floral, part dark blue and the walls were part artexed, part smooth and doors were odd shades of green, but this is nit-picking as everything was clean). There was both a bath and shower in the large ensuite bathroom, which was a welcome change. Plentiful supply of towels. Our family room (although we only needed a double) had a double and two singles in it but still did not feel cramped. Easy access on A45 to town centre / Bull Ring shopping etc., even a good bus link nearby. Full Englsih breakfast was hot and freshly cooked, good quality ingredients and special request were easily accomodated. Fresh percolated coffee and individual tea pots were available with cereals etc. on the buffet. Would prefer lounge area with TVto be seperated, but that's just a preference. A simple, basic, clean place with friendly staff. Would use this again.

Stayed over for only one night but would definitely go back. Although situated on quite a busy road the gables Nest is very welcolming, exceptionally clean, homely and good value for money.
