I stayed at the Beeches while attending a seminar for peacekeepers organised at the nearby Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre.

My room was tiny, but recently refurbished, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. There was free high-speed WLAN, coffee and tea making facilities and a small but modern bathroom.

I had breakfast at the Woodbrooke Centre, so I can't comment on the quality of the Beeches' breakfast. That said: if you look for budget accommodation in or near Birmingham, this definitely is your place to stay.

Stayed two nights on business. Food was good but the choice was limited.
Room was fine but the finish of the decor was a bit DIY.
Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.
I am not sure I would stay there again but if it suits your budget it was good value. The bar is also a nice and relaxed area but not cosy.

I stayed here for two nights for business and was a bit wary after reading some reviews on here, I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are basic but had everything needed and were very clean. The food is excellent, and plenty of it throughout the training days with biscuits and cakes at each coffee break as well as a proper meal at lunch time and in the evening. (Back on the diet after the two days!) The staff were brilliant, always pleasant and happy to help.

I spent one night here. Had single room with a tiny single bed, horrible and depressing. Dining room like a canteen. Breakfast not too bad. Receptionist pleasant. No food available after 9pm. Felt like a hostel. Never again

I stayed here on a business trip this past week and was pleasantly surprised by the standard of accommodation, bar and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The rooms were clean and functional and the hotel is in a nice location not too far from Cadbury World and Bournville train station.

My evening meal, however, was a Prawn and Fish starter followed by the Beef Chow Mein. The starter was excellent and I couldn't fault it. The Chow Mein however was so salty I had to leave half of it and later was a trifle inconvenienced by it (I wont go into details).

I'd stay again but avoid the chow Mein as the chef obviusly uses way too much salty soy sauce in the noodles!

Room Tip: The hotel is off the beaten track so noise shouldn't be a problem.

I spent two nights here at a conference and the staff were outstanding. Friendly, helpful, courteous and amazingly efficient. Home made cakes mid-morning & afternoon typical of the detail. Breakfast & lunch excellent. Bar menu limited.
The bedrooms I'm afraid are very basic, noisy and in need of renovation. Hard to get a good night's sleep with a boiler(?) making a noise every couple of hours, a trickle of water from the hot tap & t reminded me of the 1970 type of hotel I used to stay in.
A pity, for there so much here that is excellent.

I checked into the beeches for a 5 night business trip with some trepidation because of the cheap price (compared to other Birmingham hotels) and some reviews here. I was very pleasantly surprised.

The en suite bedroom was very basic but very clean and had a comfy bed, kettle/tea/coffee, hair dryer, desk, free wifi access and a tv, so everything that I required.

Breakfast was included and had a good selection of cooked foods and cereals/fruit etc.

The bar area had tea and coffee available free throughout the day which was a nice touch, and small gym facilities are onsite.

It's in a nice area of bournville (although a letter in the guest guide book noted that a number of burglaries have occurred in recent times in the affluent neighbourhood and to be mindful of belongings). It is well serviced by bus and train. Given the suggestion of possible thefts in the area, a security safe us in the room, but I would also have liked a chain on the bedroom door, especially as a lone female traveller.

A few things that could be improved- overall the rooms and stairs etc are slightly shabby and could do with a bit of a facelift. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything in other rooms, but this seems to be saved by the fact that the clientele are almost all there for work and conferences, so are relatively quiet. The food is average, I did have to send some food back, however the selection of food was quite good with a number of options including healthy dishes which I was happy to see.

I would be unlikely to stay in the hotel for a non business trip but it suited my needs perfectly and I will have no hesitation in returning in the future.

Finally, the staff team were extremely helpful and friendly in all areas (including the nice chef who came up to remove the massive spider in my bathroom for me!!).
