We stayed here prior to an all day event at the NEC on Sunday. The hotel is clean and modern, but the rooms are very basic and more like a student room than a hotel that charges more than £100 for a double B&B on a Saturday night! No wardrobe, just two short exposed rails, and no drawers. TV reception was also very hit and miss and there was no Freeview, just the hotel's limited selection of channels. Wanted to watch ITV1, but the signal was very snowy for some reason - watchable, but not what you expect with a digital service, and not what we are used to. TV was also quite small these days, and not widescreen.

Staff were friendly, particularly in the restaurant in the evening (I went to get some fresh milk for tea in the room) and again at breakfast. Breakfast was OK, but no melon or pineapple, which are my favourites.

As other reviewers have said the bed was very (VERY) hard, which resulted in getting little/no sleep and rising very stiff and sore the next day. For this reason, and the reasons above I would not recommend staying in this hotel as it is, particularly for the price we paid. You are also charged an additional £7 to park your car even if you are staying overnight, which I thought was a bit much!

Thank you for posting your comments and as always pleased to read about the staff.

The design elements are a Brand specification. We are looking at the TV system, however it is not quite as easy as installing freeview at home.

Other hotels in the area and the NEC charge for parking with so many visitors coming by plane or rail.

We stayed 1 night on 13th April. The rooms are very modern but not comfortable, the beds are very hard just like sleeping on concrete & the pillows are the same, the rooms are very depressing & I nearly slipped over on the laminate flooring. The shower & sink taps made so much noise when running we thought there was a plane taking off in the room. No wifi in the rooms just on the ground floor. The food in the resturant is ok but a limited menu. We had breads & oils to start but you get 3 bits of toast & 1 pot of
mixed olive oil & balsmaic vineger. The breakfast is good apart from my
husband finding a piece of paper in his.
The walk over to the LG Arena is about 10mins but very dark & the lift is quite scary in the dark.
cooked breakfast.

Thank you for highlighting the issue with plumbing noise. We will try and remedy this from the limited information on the review.

We do have a deep mattress topper on the beds and additonal bedding can be provided.

Unfortuately, the walk from many of the Hotels to the area is across the NEC and we are reliant on their facilities. I am able to state though that they have 24 hour security and ANPR as well as our staff and theirs using the route frequently to the station.

Booked online because we wanted to catch an early flight from Birmingham airport. We had stayed previously on a car park and bed deal at the Novotel (which was right on the airport concourse - 2 minutes from check in, as is the Ibis hotel). This Encore hotel is actually at the NEC a short distance away. It only took 8 minutes to walk our bags to the NEC monorail terminal and 3 minutes on the train got us to the check-in desks. The Encore Ramada’s car park is right at the hotel and that’s where our car stayed for 8 days so it saved us parking in the long term airport car park and bussing to and from the airport concourse. Our standard room was a good size, had good aircon and heater, sofa, tea & coffee, desk and chair. Shower / wet room good. I forgot my toothbrush and the desk gave me one foc so good service. Location good and not noisy. Did a good package deal so it suited us fine.

Stayed here after attending a concert at the LG Arena. Very convenient location- roughly 10 minute walk to/from hotel. Was extremely busy when checking in and only one member working at reception so was all a bit rushed.
Went to buy a drink from the bar, they will not allow you to charge to your room even though you have registered credit card on arrival- most unusual in a hotel. Bar staff not that friendly.
Rooms are very basic, laminate floors but bathroom and room were modern and clean.
Would say standard is better than travelodge but not as good as premier inn for similar price.
