“Just ok really...”
Reviewed 4 April 2014 via mobile

I had heard good things and with so few Chinese restaurants locally, I was looking forward to the meal.
I was pleased to see that even early on a Thursday night it was extremely busy. The staff were friendly but the service was ridiculously rushed. It was almost like being in a fast food restaurant. We'd only sat down before a waiter was taking our starter orders.
The food arrived quickly and the quality was mixed. The prawn toasts were hot and fresh, duck pancakes enjoyable. The yuk sung was not appetising at all - like a puréed mush of unidentifiable meat. We swiftly moved onto mains. Not bad at all especially the beef in black pepper sauce. However it was all so quick I was too full to eat a great deal.
So, food not bad but doubt we'll return.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

We have been customers of the lailing since it opened years ago and have always thought it was excellent but the last two visits have been so different. The food is still very good but what's changed is the atmosphere. On both occasions we had a waiter who was constantly rushing us and asking us to count how many each individual would eat .....when we said just the usual amount he made us state exactly how many chicken wings, pancakes etc. Per person When questioned he said he didn't want us to be too full for main course. Plates were cleared before we had finished and it was all just very intrusive. Such a shame but he's really put us off. Maybe we'll have takeaways from them from now on but no more visits I'm afraid!

“dont have a takeout”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

have eaten in at this restaurant once and the experience was very good.freshly cooked eat as much as you can buffet could not be faulted. Naturally i expected the quality to be similar when ordering a take out, but unfortunately no,it was very disappointing.ordered 4 meals in all and without exception they were pretty bland and almost tasteless.even the singapore chow mein which is always flagged up as hot on menus had nothing going for it.i had to add soya sauce/salt to it to make it worthwhile.other comments on the dishes we ordered as follows:-chicken with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts(chicken ok but sauce tasteless) chicken in sweet soya sauce(again chicken ok but only if you like it with loads of cabbage and weak watery sauce) basic chicken curry (acceptable but not as good as the one from morrisons take out range we had the previous week) can only assume the chef had run out of spices or something. o'h by the way the rice was lovely.light and fluffy. sorry to be a moaner but having tried all of about 20 takeaways within 10 mins of where i live i can honestly say that this was far and away the worst. stick to eating in!

“BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT”
Reviewed 18 March 2014 via mobile

This is exactly what one could possibly want from a Chinese restaurant: all
You can eat high quality authentic food cooked to order so it is all fresh with reasonable prices, buzzing atmosphere and we are lucky we booked as it was fully booked as usual and attentive service! Seriously you can not possibly fault this restaurant in any way.

it is a fantastic value! You could order as much as you like and it is brought to your table. That is what I would call breathtaking service and everybody else seem to enjoy their visit. I would recommend this amazing restaurant to everybody without hesitation and looking forward to my next visit.
