“Very Nice Stay!”
Reviewed 3 January 2013

I booked the Premier Inn as a suprise night away for Me and My Boyfriend on 21st December (Early Xmas present) it only cost me £39 for the room which was a bargain compared to some other hotels in the area!
Once we got there we had no problem parking, lots of parking spaces available. We then checked in very quickly by the helpful staff and given our room key.
We were very pleased with our room - very clean as usual, it had all you could need for a short break e.g. Hairdryer, Tea/Coffee. And the TV was brilliant - Wide screen Samsung TV with Freeview! The bed was very comfy and clean - felt like the sheets were brand new and we also loved the extra pillows idea.
We decided to have a walk to the German Market once we had dropped our bags off, however this was a little futhur than we had anticipated...approx 3 miles! Great if you love walking but if you dont like walking or have high heels you can always call a taxi (shouldnt be no more that £5).
We decided to dine at TGI Fridays on the evening - this was ideal as it is right next to the hotel (Premier Inn car park is joined to TGI Car Park - Very Ideal).

We decided to have Breakfast in the morning, the breakfast was served in the Beefeater Restaurant which was joined to the hotel (Door next to reception) We were seated straight away but because we didnt know what we wanted to order the Waiter said he would come back to take our order shortly - However this did take a while (Must have been waiting over 20mins for him to come back and take our order and nobody else was in the restuarant - a Little strange :/) However once I called the waiter back after our long wait, he took our order and the Breakfast was Lovely! Everything you could want or wish for!

Would deffinately reccommend this Premier Inn to anyone - Would deffinately Visit again!

I have praised Premier Inn in other reviews and stayed at this one for the first time this week. The welcome was great and the room was clean and comfortable - no problems. However the lighting was appalling, it was dark and dingy. There was no mirrror in the bedroom and no shaving point in the bathroom. My wife needs to apply a bit of make-up and do her hair in the morning and there was nowhere to do this! The mirror in the bathroom was steamed up and the other mirror by the entrance door had no light anywhere near it. Breakfast was awful partly because there was only one waiter and he was trying to do too much. Cooked breakfast consisted of scrambled egg that was dreadful (powdered egg??) - my wife left hers, and mine was two nice hot fried eggs with stone cold bacon, a barely warm sausage and an absent tomato. Not good. Paying nearly £90 for bed and breakfast was pretty hefty considering what we got for our money.

dear peter j, i am sorry to hear that you has some poor experiances here at hagley road. We will pass on you issues regarding the lighting in the room and we are sorry that the light that is around the mirror located by the door wasnt working. this is usually the best place for ladies to apply their make up as this is the brightest of the lights in our rooms. We do have shaver adaptors at Reception due to their the not being a shaver point in the bathroom.
Your issues over the breakfast service have been passed over to the beefeater resturant to to get them to retify this for all guests future stays as we are deeply sorry you did not get served a satisfactory breakfast.
Premier Inn prides its self on providing high quality standard of service so if you could please call us directly at the hotel, we would like you to give us the opportunity to resolves your concerns.

I stayed here for one night following my work's Xmas party. The hotel is clean and comfortable with large wall mounted LCD TV's in the rooms. The shower was also nice and powerful and the staff were vey friendly and efficient. The only issue I had was being woken at 8:20am by loud banging noises. Apparently it was the delivery of beer barrels to the hotel's bar. According to a colleague who was also staying and complained about the noise, the delivery shouldn't take place until after 9am. Apart from that, the hotel was great value for the £38 I paid and I would have no hesitation staying here again.

dear stu_uk
thank you very much for your kind words about hagley road regarding your stay.
we are glad you look the new look rooms which we have recently had refurbished.
However, we will get the issue regarding you and a collegue being woken up shortly after 8am buy the resturant receiving its beer delviery. We will see if this is something that can be arranaged to have deliviered after 9am. we do hope this wont put you off staying at hagley road with us again.
A suggestion we can make to prevent you from having this inconveinance again would be to call the hotel directly once you have made a booking to request a room located to the rear overlooking Quality hotel.
I do hope this helps
many thanks

I stayed here recently for a night when I had my works Christmas party at the botanical gardens. The receptionist was very friendly on arrival and couldn't do enough for me.

The room itself was very clean, and had everything that I needed. The bed was comfy and there were plenty of spare pillows if needed.

This is a great value hotel for if you're visiting Birmingham, I would highly recommend it.

Room 21 is used as a family room despite having the beefeater refuge storage area right outside the window. The staff empty the glass bins at closing time and are very noisy. The fire alarm then went off in the middle of the night and after getting dressed and dragging two kids outside was told by a receptionist "sorry mate, false alarm". Other than that the hotel is in a great location. The steaks in the restaurant are highly recommended and the hotel was clean, comfortable and very good value for money. I would stay here again but not anywhere near the bin sheds.

We stayed here early December to visit the Christmas Market.
The hotel is what I have come to expect from a Premier Inn - it was very clean, the staff were helpful and the location and price were very good.
We had breakfast at the Beefeater the Saturday morning and it was excellent. The male staff member asked how we wanted our food cooked and it arrived on hot plates and we got everything we wanted - do not be afraid to ask for whatever you fancy, they did not even judge me for having loads of bacon! Then on the Sunday morning I felt that they were a bit rushed and staff were not as attentive and so the food was not as nice, however it was still a decent breakfast.
When we wanted to visit a different local area on the sunday morning the female staff member at the front desk was really kind - she printed off a map, directions and info about the place without being asked. I felt welcome and comfortable asking for her help.
If you go for the market It is worth noting that the bus on Hagley Rd (126 or 9) to the xmas market does not make the return journey after 8pm on a weekend, however it was £3.80 for the two of us to get a single bus journey and only £6 in a taxi, so get the number from the front desk before you go.
All in all a nice trip and a better xmas market than we found in Germany!

My friend and I stayed here in Dec, we had booked to go to the theatre and to do some Chrismas shopping. The staff were very friendly. I had asked for a quiet room, ( I stayed in the City Centre last year at a similar time, and had no sleep at all due to noise, and didn't want a repeat experience). I had a very peaceful nights sleep, with no noise either inside or outside of the hotel. We ate in the Beefeater which was lovely. The staff were very attentitive, even though they were very busy with Xmas parties, birthdays etc. It cost £1.90 to get a bus from Colmore Row, and stopped near enough outside the hotel, and took 10 mins. I shall definately return to this Premier Inn.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter.
