“Friendly staff clean no frills”
Reviewed 12 December 2010

first stay at a premier inn, would use them again, staff helpful and friendly. Hotel on main road and seemed to be quite full but spent a restful night. Breakfast and lunch in restaurant (Beefeater) very good, again service friendly staff happy to help.

This is a bit of a cheat as i didnt stay - i live just round the corner - BUT - i was looking for somewhere that could do 20 recovery breakfasts on a sunday morning - later than 10.00am
The Premier Inn/Beefeater to the rescue - the breakfast were great & the level of service - outstanding & if we need hotel beds in Brum in the future - next time it will be at this Premier Inn
Well done to Tracey & Ewen

All the staff were very helpful and friendly during our stay.
The rooms are comfortable and very clean as was the rest of the complex. The showers are very powerful and hot.

Lots of parking ... look out for the TGI Friday sign if you are not sure of the location of the hotel on Hagley road.

Impressive -the hotel seems very new and modern. the room is just as you see on the lenny henry adverts. Staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. the restaurant next door has a good menu selection, reasonably well cooked with personable staff. However, it can be a bit noisy. Even though the whole site is near a very busy main road, it is sceened by planting and has a large car park behind.
The best bits for me were:
windows that at least opened 4 or 5 inches, air conditioning, good lighting either side of a mirror for putting on make up.
A tip: the car park behind gets quite full and there are two alternative restaurants on site as well as the Beefeater, so I found it easiest not to drive out again once I'd arrived. In the morning turn left three times to get to Birmingham rather than trying to turn right into the queue of commuters.

This was “return a student to university” weekend when, as if by magic, the reasonably polite and presentable twenty year-old you’ve just shared part of your summer with is metamorphosed (in the space of a Friday night drive from London to Birmingham) into something resembling a Big Issue vendor.

We arrived at the student accommodation (home for the next several months to seven (!) young ladies) to unload seemingly endless bags, cases and book filled boxes into a house which the previous occupants had meticulously converted into a near perfect example of a Victorian slum. Whilst standing outside in the street (for fear that the building into which we’d just deposited my partner’s daughter with all her possessions might, at any time, fall down) it seemed that half the population of Selly Oak had decided to dress as vagrants and wander up and down the Bristol Road on a night time pilgrimage to pay homage at the nearby shrine known locally as Tesco Express.

We’d arranged to stay (for a “crash and dash”) at the Premier Inn on the nearby Hagley Road – an area that on arrival seemed like the Garden of Eden compared to Student-Ville in Selly Oak. It was getting late now and we were tired and looking forward to getting parked, getting fed and then to bed.

Got checked in quickly and easily by a pleasant and friendly chap on the front desk (very nice to be greeted with a smile) who sorted out our breakfast order (bizarre or what – we haven’t had dinner yet?) and then found our room. After dumping our overnight bag we headed back downstairs for the “Beefeater” experience which although I’d been dubious about was the most convenient option. We needn’t have worried as we had a good, reasonably priced dinner – hardly cordon bleu but perfectly acceptable and the service was also very good.

The next morning, after a comfortable night, we enjoyed a freshly cooked breakfast and, with mission accomplished, headed back south with a song in our voice and a spring in our step.

Well done Premier Inn – nothing at all to complain about (except the meagre supply of teabags in our room and the broken window handle – it wasn’t us!). Good service and very good value.

Parking is free, always had a parking space even when sharing with other local dinners going into beefeater and TFI friday next door.

Room is quiet, make sure you are out of the room by 11.00am or they will not clean your room.

internet used is a disappointing £3.00 for just 20minutes.

Can't comment on breakfast as i only booked room.

No telephone in room, so if you want to speak to reception, you just have to go downstairs.

But hotel is an excellent choice if you have a car, as we went cadburys, bullring shopping centre, china town and drayton manor, each within an hour or less.

and don't forget to go try the beefeater next to the hotel, the food there is delicious.

This is my first trip to Birmingham and i will cetainly go back again.
