“Stayed before, but not as good this time”

Allocated very small room (could barely open bathroom door, bed so close). Also bathroom smelt of smoke. This did not disappear, so conclude something to do with air-conditioning and location of smoking area. Also mould in bathroom (in soap dispenser and in corner) - this is not usual for Premier Inns - they tend to be very clean.

As usual though, comfortable bed (5 foot). Usual, well placed hairdryer. No bath.

Can't really grumble for £34 - but know other rooms are bigger, better and cleaner.

Great location in Birmingham.

Stayed here on 2nd Jan. Only paid £19 for a double room which was spacious and very clean and comfortable. There was adequate pillows and the room also had air conditioning should we have needed it.

Staff were very polite and helpful on check in - provided me details of nearest/easily accessible car park as the hotel doesn't have any long stay car parking (there are pay and display bays outside but are limited to 2 hours max)

Can't grumble for the price at all! It's within walking distance of the Bullring, Museums, Broad Street and train stations and there are LOADS of restaurants in the surrounding streets so you'll be spoilt for choice!

Overall, great location, great staff, great rooms!

Got a £19 deal here for a night between Christmas and New Year, just to get a change of scenery and see if any decent sales in the Bullring. Upon arrival we asked if any of the family rooms were bigger than others, as last one was a bit cramped. Person on reception gave us a room that was a bit better than before, certainly more space for storing bags etc. Room was fine for 4 of us, might have felt a bit cramped if staying for more than a couple of nights though, but children had a single bed each. Pretty good, considering many hotels can't accommodate 4 people in a room, and if they do, the cost can be high and the children's sleeping arrangements often leave something to be desired. Credit to PI for their approach.

Didn't have breakfast this time as preferred to lie in until very late, but wondered if they have resolved the huge queue issue I encountered last time. One recent review I have read just now would indicate perhaps they haven't, but I understand they are limited by the building layout to some extent.

The location is great, the multi storey car park you are advised to use is between 5 and 10 minutes walk away from the hotel, so do be prepared for this if you are driving. However if you are coming in to New Street by train, it is very close indeed. I wouldn't consider staying at any other hotel in Birmingham. Staff are always pleasant and helpful, a credit to the company.

TIPS: Avoid the 'Trocadero' pub around the corner on Temple Street. Looks lovely from the outside, but service is terrible and atmosphere not too friendly. Exterior is not a good indicator of the interior. rated #584 out of #698 places on Tripadvisor, deservedly so. There is a pub further down just off the main street called The Shakespeare (on Temple Row West), a 'Nicholson's pub'. Much nicer, good service and nice ambience. There is a Wetherspoon's pub called The Briar Rose within a couple of minutes walk, on Bennett's Hill. You can get a cheaper breakfast here than at Premier Inn, especially if you only want something small. However you can't beat the value at PI with its all you can eat / drink price, and the kids get to eat free too, so if you have children it can work out better to eat at the hotel than going out elsewhere to eat. If you are thinking of visiting the famous 'Balti Triangle' for a curry, a return taxi trip from the hotel will set you back just under £20. Consider driving, or investigating bus routes.

Room Tip: If you have booked a family room, try asking if they have any larger ones available (I think the lad...

Such a lovely hotel especially one which is in the very middle of a city. The view from our window was breath taking - the illuminated face of the Cathedral and the trees around it. We came to see an Exhibition in the lovely Art Gallery - only a short walk away. Couldn't get into the Symphony Hall - sold out for a lovely sounding concert, but the pictures were divine, the room was quiet and really large. Felt really refreshed and upifted after a night there - will go again.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Cathedral

Stayed in a family room with baby cot for 1 night between xmas and new year. Great rooms with everything you need, everything seems very new and clean. Great location as we came to Birmingham by train. The staff was absolutely brilliant, obviously used to kids. Both husband and I have worked for 4-5 star hotels and we were pleasantly surprised and very impressed by the quality and value for money.

We got a room for £29 so great, found it easily & eventually found a car park tower hill i think £10 for 24 hours. Check in at 2 & out 12 so good times, check in was easy on a touch screen, bar next door, rooms basic but great shower & comfy beds we had 604. Restaurant fumo next door is a must & one street over we had a weatherspoons breakfast, lovely weekend will be back!

Full Five Stars here, what a lovely location to get around & access Birmingham City Centre, cannot fault the staff, very polite & helpful, the room spotless,no issues at all, even the room had a great view looking onto the Cathedral. The weather was not good, but you cannot blame the hotel for that. All in all,I would definately stay here again, with no hesitation.I was that impressed, we stopped for Breakfast even though we had not booked in to have one.
