We stayed for 2 nights. Parking is nearby at Snow Hill station a short walk to the hotel. Situated opposite the cathedral and on next block to the Louis Vouitton shop. Check in was fine, room on 6th floor was bright and clean. Only 2 cups, sets of towels despite it being a family room for 3 (a pet hate). Short walk into town and New Street station.
When we arrived they forgot to mention the good night guarantee - I think there may be a reason for this! What was a quiet area during the day is very loud late at night! There was a hight powered car zipping about very loudly, lots of loud talking and shouting. On our second night there was a massive argument in the street at 3:15 which woke us all. I have no idea how loud it must have been on the lower floors!
On arrival we had ordered newspapers. When they didn't arrive on the first morning my husband went down to reception to pick them up. Unfortunately they hadn't been ordered but this was sorted and eventually were delivered to our room. Sadly the same thing happened on the second morning! This time they hadn't arrived by the time we were checking out! Not the best service and with no phone in the room meant travelling down to reception.
Despite the benefits of being on a higher floor in terms of noise the down side was the lifts in the morning. The housekeeping staff use the same lifts and must work between floors - frustrating when your up and down looking for newspapers.
I am not one of those trip advisor contributors who like to complain and have stayed in many city centre hotels - on this occasion this one did have more negatives than positives for us.
