“Disappointing service and noisy late night location”
Reviewed 27 October 2013 via mobile

We stayed for 2 nights. Parking is nearby at Snow Hill station a short walk to the hotel. Situated opposite the cathedral and on next block to the Louis Vouitton shop. Check in was fine, room on 6th floor was bright and clean. Only 2 cups, sets of towels despite it being a family room for 3 (a pet hate). Short walk into town and New Street station.
When we arrived they forgot to mention the good night guarantee - I think there may be a reason for this! What was a quiet area during the day is very loud late at night! There was a hight powered car zipping about very loudly, lots of loud talking and shouting. On our second night there was a massive argument in the street at 3:15 which woke us all. I have no idea how loud it must have been on the lower floors!
On arrival we had ordered newspapers. When they didn't arrive on the first morning my husband went down to reception to pick them up. Unfortunately they hadn't been ordered but this was sorted and eventually were delivered to our room. Sadly the same thing happened on the second morning! This time they hadn't arrived by the time we were checking out! Not the best service and with no phone in the room meant travelling down to reception.
Despite the benefits of being on a higher floor in terms of noise the down side was the lifts in the morning. The housekeeping staff use the same lifts and must work between floors - frustrating when your up and down looking for newspapers.
I am not one of those trip advisor contributors who like to complain and have stayed in many city centre hotels - on this occasion this one did have more negatives than positives for us.

What a surprise this hotel turned out to be. Good, central location.Very large, corner room, which was very pleasantly set out and equipped. Massive bed and very good bathroom. Breakfast was also a revelation with everything you could want from fruit salad, toast, cereal and full english. Not sure of the cost as this was a business trip and the room was booked for me but Premier Inn are know as a value brand -go for it!

Stayed at this hotel over the horse of the year show weekend, ideal location if you seeing a show at the nec/lg arena. After quite a lengthy wait on checking in, the rest of stay included efficient staff, great service. Hotel was clean and modern and had a great nights sleep. Breakfast buffet was the usual standard you expect from this chain of hotel. Overall had a great weekend.

This is one of the newer premier inns and therefore much nicer quality than a lot of the other budget hotels ive stayed at. Really good value for money as we paid £29 for a room and it was within minutes of the centre but still a relatively quiet area. Will go back if we need to stay over in Brum again but just make sure you book in advanced.

Stayed here for 2 nights (Sat/Sun). Great central location for visiting the city centre, welcoming staff and usual Premier Inn no-frills comfort, nicely presented and relatively spacious room. There was a little bit of noise from the street - but for a city centre location it was quiet - the room had secondary glazing which helped. What I love about Premier Inn is the comfy beds, the great value for money, and that I always get a good night's sleep, it did not disappoint. (Didn't try the breakfast, went to Yorks Bakery Cafe close by which I can also highly recommend!)

Have been to many good Premier Inns -Kendal and Southampton are excellent . Waterloo street in birmingham is no exception- brilliant location, clean rooms, friendly and efficient staff on reception and at breakfast. I really would rather stay here than other more expensive hotels close by. It would be nice to have a high room overlooking the park e.g 701
