“No shaver points!!”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

Firstly, I would say pleasant staff, well appointed and convenient location.

Car Parking - 5-10mins away in a secure car park, Brunel Street, you can park outside the hotel after 7.30 but it is pot luck if there are places.

Big gripe - no shaver points in the bathroom, appears to be a penny pinching exercise in all new Premier Inn hotels.

Why? Have no real idea. You can wander down to reception and borrow an adapter. I don't carry one with me because I can't think of another hotel where there isn't a shaver point in the bathroom.

Even when you have an adapter the plugs are not near mirrors with bright lights...

Wish their website would say which hotels have them and which don't so I knew which to avoid.... spoilt a good stay.

Just back from a trip to Birmingham where we stayed at this fantastic budget hotel. Total bargain at £29 for a twin room which was clean and spacious with a great view. Perfectly located in a lovely square 2 mins walk from New Street Station. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast delicious. So much choice. I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. Will definitely go back.

Travelled to Birmingham to see friends for nightlife and shopping. Stayed here last year and was impressed so chose to come back to same hotel. At £29 a night it represented great value and am confident with the brand so always try to use PI. Booked twin room - one large double and a single/sofa bed. Huge room! Great views from 5th floor of Birmingham cathedral. Peaceful and nicely lit during the night. Sofa bed was tilted and uncomfortable. Difficult to sleep. Pulled mattress onto floor for 2nd night which was fine. Was also also woken at 7am by a horrendous fire alarm. No staff were around at the time. Expressed concerns to staff regarding single bed. Was advised unable to change bed but was given full refund for first night. Couldn't pick up any wi-fi in hotel room and no bottle opener! Unable to borrow one when asked as needed at bar. The bottle openers on the end of the dressing tables in Travelodge are really useful. Despite concerns, would still be first choice of hotel if returning to Birmingham.

Stayed here on the 7th of February for my 21st birthday and so glad I did.! You carnt check in until 2 so on our arrival at half past 1 we were greeted by a pleasant receptionist who happily stored our luggage and directed us in the place of a nice lounge and bar area whilst we waited. We were asked about the reason for our stay and once saying it was my 21st we go to our room to find 'shelia' had put up banners and balloons. It's things like that that make the visit more special.! After dumping our bags we headed down for lunch in the bar and grill next door. It was perfect.! Once again Sheila was so helpful and fun.!! Then we headed to broad street for the evening. That was ok but rather quiet on a Friday.! Once back at the room the bed was comfortable and I didn't wake up once.! The bathrooms are clean and the facilities and little touches make the room up.! From check in to check out our experience has been delightful and Sheila is a credit to the team.!!!!! Thank you.! Sarah and Andy.! Will return.!

Well run, comfortable hotel in central Birmingham. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff, well equipped and spotless rooms. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, along with three late opening less than 2 minutes walk away on Colmore Row. Short walk also to main shopping area and railway station. Will certainly return.

Room Tip: Like the centre of any city Birmingham can get noisy at times so a high floor room is probably the b...
