We stayed here for 1 night only as we were going to see a show at the NIA. The hotel is conveniently situated on Broad Street not far from the NIA. We stayed on a Friday night in early December. The reception staff warned us that there was a function going on until 1 am. Check-in at reception was quick and efficient. The lifts are situated opposite reception and are not the easiest to use as you have to swipe your room card to enable the lift to ascend to upper floors and the doors kept opening when the call button was pressed by people in the foyer.
Our room was on the third floor and was an executive queen room. It was spacious with a large comfortable bed.We had 2 dressing gowns and 2 pairs of slippers. Besides tea making facilities there was also a Nespresso machine. Milk was kept in the fridge along with complementary bottles of water. The television had some channels but could have benefitted from more.
The bathroom was large with a shower cubicle and also a bath complete with hand held shower. There was a good selection of toiletries. The only complaint was that the shower water in the morning was quite cool and could have been hotter.
We both had a good sleep and didn't hear any noise at all from the street or the function.
Breakfast was really nice. There was a good selection of hot and cold food, the scrambled egg in particular was excellent. There are quite a few restaurants and bars opposite the hotel and nearby so you don't need to eat in the hotel.
It's only about a five minute walk to the NIA and about 15 minutes to New Street Station. I would definitely stay here again as it's very nice and handy for the station, city centre and NIA

Room Tip: Choose an executive room and ask for a room which doesn't overlook Broad Street especially at weekends as it can get very noisy/

I booked this hotel as we wanted on site parking and a hotel near to National Indoor Arena. At first we were told the car park was full but then the manager checked and said there were 2 spaces so we managed to park. The hotel is very clean and spacious. Our room was more than adequate with the usual mod cons. Breakfast was busy but the staff approached us and said they weren't ignoring us - it was clear to see they were busy and clearing tables as fast as they could. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and we will definitely consider staying here again.

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor and although there was a Xmas party it was quiet.

My freind and I stayed for 3 nights. It is our 3rd stay at the Novotel Birmingham. We love the breakfast, the location, the comfy beds.
This time we felt that attention to detail during breakfast was lacking, mainly due to not enough staff. Also, the fresh milk supplied for tea and coffee in the room was not fresh at all....more like baby sick! It was replaced when we requested but it was still a bit yucky!
We would stay again. It offers good value for money and a great location for shopping, eating and RSH.
