I stayed here quite a while ago now, but I remember this hotel being so horrible it put me off staying in Ibis hotels for a long time.
The first thing I saw walking in were some drunk people sitting at a very run down bar...the reception staff weren't particularly pleasant either.
The room was stuffy, smelly and dark. The bathroom was as small as one on an airplane but was clean at least.
Also it's very noisy, I stayed here for a night out in Birmingham and got a cab to Broad Street so it was ok location wise...but when we got back I didn't sleep a wink due to being able to hear everything going on around me!
Wouldn't stay here again...there are better hotels in Birmingham for the same price range!

Dear Amy,

Thank you for your feedback. While I am glad that you found hotel cleanliness and location convenient, I am sorry that the bedroom design as well as the noise affected the quality of your stay. We are aware of the noise issues with the surrounding area and are in very close contact with local clubs. We are also looking into getting new windows fitted. I hope that thie experience did not impact your overall image of Ibis brand.

Thank you again for your feedback which is invaluable in our efforts to improve the quality of services.

Kind regards,

Joanna

Stayed for a weekend, Fri and Sat nights. Went to the Hippodrome to watch Gok and the guys in panto and had a great time. Location is perfect for access to the shopping, restaurants and bars. Had a great weekend and even found a room that didn't back on to the main street so during the night it was really quiet. Rooms are modern and clean, reception, bar and seating is all open plan. The key to this place is definitely the location, everything is on your door step. Having used this hotel a few times now the noise outside at a weekend because of the location can be a bit much early in the morning, get an inward facing room and it's peaceful as anything.

We booked 4 separate rooms here for a place to crash after a memorable night out at the glee club due to how conveniently close the hotel was and that was about the only plus point.

I stopped in room 140 and I'm glad I wasn't sharing, as I state in my tittle the room was no bigger than a cupboard in fact it made my garden shed look spacious.

The walls are thin and I had the pleasure of listening to a couple in the room next door enjoying themselves...

The windows offered little/no sound insulation from the nightclub and bar noise, and base from the night club speakers was shaking all the fixtures and fittings.

I also couldn't figure out how to work the heating and there was no instructions in the room.

On the plus side the room was clean the towels were fresh and the bed was comfortable-ish.

Did the job but won't be staying again.

On paper this hotel looks brilliant -- great location and cheap prices... the room was clean and the staff were friendly. So what's the catch?
Well, two things:
(1) it's right next to the Arcadian, one of Birmingham's busiest night-spots... on a Friday or Saturday night, despite the triple glazing, you'll struggle to get any sleep before 3am thanks to the clubs underneath and next door to the hotel.
(2) Even if you stayed here during the week, the walls within the hotel are paper thin, and you can hear literally everything that's going on in the rooms each side, above and below... suffice it to say, don't bring kids here if you don't want to have to explain the birds and the bees to them!
In summary, if you're planning a night out and don't plan to be back in your room until the early hours, or if you're deaf, this place is definitely the hotel for you!

Room Tip: Ask for one that's not on the side next to the nightclubs!

stopped here for 2 nights recently and can definitely recommend it. bright and airy reception, polite friendly staff and checked in within 5 minutes. the rooms are small and basic but very clean and well maintained, the beds are comfortable and you have everything you require including for the ladies a mirror and hair drier! we paid extra for breakfast and found it very good value for money. even though a buffet style everything was hot and fresh and a special mention must go to Ingrid who made breakfast time a pleasure. overall excellent would stay here again no problem.

As other guests have said the location is very good with vast choice of eating places. The room was of the usual Ibis standard although the shower room was small, a large person would have to think out a plan to use the facilities. The shower head was broken and after reporting it to reception it was fixed without a problem. The bed was very comfortable although the room was hot even with the heating off. We slept with the bathroom window open but this would not have been possible on the Sunday night because of a nearby night club.
The staff in the hotel were very friendly especially those at breakfast. Overall I would stay in this hotel again.

arranged night out and hotel was very central to bars and clubs. staff freindly, hotel very clean and modern although en suite quite small, does the job.bed comfy, breakfast buffet had a good choice went back for seconds! our room backed onto arcadian but noise was very minimum thanks to the two windows. only downside a couple tried to allow thier friends back into their room at 4 in the morning and was woken by security escorting them off the premises.staff did apologize in the morning.
