Description: Situated on St Pauls Church square, Andersons Bar and Grill is found in the interesting surroundings of former 18th century cellars. However this restaurant is as far from a dingy basement bar as it is possible to be lush, sophisticated dcor brings light and space to the brick arched room, changing displays of art is displayed on the walls and theres a definite buzz to the atmosphere. With a dedication to providing great value food in a relaxed setting along with top quality service, Andersons Bar and Grill is already making its mark on the local dining scene. The food, sourced locally is of course hearty grill fayre but presented with a touch of class so even old favourites such as Barnsley chop or grilled plaice are actually rather special.

“Good, but occasionally hit or miss”
Reviewed 15 June 2011

On their day, the kitchen can produce quality food. However, occasionally, particularly on a quiet evening midweek, you get the impression that they're just going through the motions. If you go, don't mess around and just stick to the steaks.

“Recommended with Reservations”
Reviewed 5 May 2011

We visited at 7.30pm so it wasn't too busy. The service was swift and attentive. The standard of food was generally good and well presented. I had lambs kidney to start which was excellent, tender and full of flavour. My main was rump shorthorn steak which I found to be tough and overcooked. Not what I expected from a restaurant which specialises in steak. The sweet was a very average vanilla cheescake but nevertheless enjoyable. Others in the party said how nice the mains were. So perhaps my steak was a one off. Because of this I recommend Andersons with reservations.
Parking is on street nearby. Free after 6.0pm

“Nice place, good steak”
Reviewed 22 April 2011

In a basement off St Paul's square, this bar and grill has a nice atmosphere. The steak was good, and surf and turf very nice. Good value, and attention to detail, like roasted garlic with the bread basket, and chips that were potatoes when they arrived at the restaurant (i.e. not out of a bag) only adds to the good impression. Attentive service, all in all a nice place to eat.
