“Good hotel, very close to train station.”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

I stayed here for one night on business, it was a two minute walk from the train station so very handy.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a standard buffet style breakfast but was an excellent standard with a very wide selection. The hot breakfast was just that: nice and hot! Unlike some buffet breakfasts when your food is barely warm.

The hotel is just two minutes walk from new street station so ideal if passing through or staying on business

Rooms are a decent size. Mini fridge, trouser press and iron!

'Double' bed a little on the narrow side but comfortable all the same

Buffett style breakfast plentiful and tasty

Couldn't fault the reception staff very helpful after our reservations had been messed up. Quick and efficient

The advertised room rate in the hotel is £170+ if I'd have paid this I would have been mortified. But the £60 paid is a steal!

Well worth a try if staying in Birmingham

We had a two night stay in this hotel and found it excellent. We booked bed & breakfast in a double room at a total cost of £55 per night. My daughter is disabled so requested an accessible room. On arrival we were met by a friendly receptionist who opened the car park and let us into a parking space before completing check in (parking is limited but there are spaces reserved for disabled guests). Check in complete we were given the keys to our room & asked if we wanted help to our room. There are lifts to all floors so disabled patrons need not worry about accessibility to the rooms or any part of the hotel. Our room was very spacious with plenty of room for my daughter's wheelchair to manoeuvre. The room was very clean and well maintained throughout our stay. TV, internet, hairdryer, tea making facilities as well as information about the hotel & Birmingham were all provided. Like our room the bathroom was spacious with bath, shower & wash basin and was very clean and well maintained. Towels and toiletries were provided and replaced daily. We had undisturbed sleep in comfortable beds.
Breakfast was good with a good choice of food and we were served by friendly helpful staff. We did not have a main meal in the hotel as we were out and about in Birmingham but we did have drinks at the bar & bar snacks.. Food and drink was well presented and very tasty.
From check in to check out we were well looked after by friendly, helpful staff.
Highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed here for 1 night because we went to watch wicked. Location excellent walking distance to bullring and new street train station and hippodrome. Asked for a high floor after reading reviews got 8th floor. The room was very clean an spacious. We paid £55 for a standard double and was very pleased. Loved the little red stick on carpet at entrance. Staff were friendly and welcoming at check in/out We didn't drive or eat here so cannot comment on those. All round a good experience. Wold recommend

Booked the Holiday Inn for a trip down to see the team I support play Birmingham City in a friendly and at £55 for a twin room including B&B this was a bit of steal. In terms of location you can't get much better, it is right across the road from New Street which is one of the main stations in the centre which again if you are flying in like we did is only 15 mins from the airport by train. We arrived a bit early to check in so the reception staff gladly took our luggage off of us while we went to go get something to eat. When we returned, still a bit early the staff said the room wouldn't be long and we waited for about 10 mins in the bar before being called by the front desk to say the room was now ready. The room itself was incredibly spacious and modern, which makes the main lobby and corridor need like it needs a bit of a modernisation as well. But overall for the price it was incredibly good value. After the football we returned and decided just to have food in the restaurant in the hotel and this is where the disappointment of the stay started to creep in. They had just changed to a new set menu for which you had to order at least 2 options from a very limited menu at best. This was the same opinion of some of the other guests who sat down initially and then left realising this. We stuck at it but I have to say the food although well presented was slightly disappointing and I am going to give the benefit of the doubt and say this was due to the new menu. Breakfast in the morning was of an expected standard, plenty to choose from and something to satisfy all types of diets etc. To sum up incredibly friendly staff, nice rooms, average food and great value

I stayed at the holiday inn Birmingham city centre for 1 night with my partner on Friday 8th August. We had a wonderful stay, check in was quick and hassle free and we were upgraded to an executive room (a benefit of platinum membership with the Hotel rewards programme) The room was on the 7th floor facing the back which meant it was quieter, it was a huge room with a super king bed. It also had a large bathroom, mini bar and robes and slippers.
The hotel is in a superb location close to the Bull Ring and Hippodrome.
Overall we had a fantastic stay and would definetly go back.

I booked a twin room for my friend and I returning from an overseas trip.I was amazed at the size of the room.I can honestly say it is the best twin room I have ever stayed in.There was the usdual amenities but also a comfy sofa to watch TV.The shower was lovely and for a city centre hotel it was very quiet.Breakfast was a substantial cooked buffet included in our booking and well worth it.It is a short walk to the train station and also the shopping centre.Book in staff were friendly and polite but check out foreign gentleman was quite brisk.I like to be asked if I enjoyed my stay and if everything was satisfactory. He asked neither and I doubt he would have cared anyway. That said it was the only thing and did not married the stay

Room Tip: Always ask for the quietest room when booking at any city centre hotel.
