Stayed at this lovely welcoming Hotel for ten days, everything I could say would not be enough, I stayed there while my husband was in hospital undergoing surgery, I was always welcomed in the evening after a hospital day, with smiles and assistance and a magnificently cooked dinner. Everyone without exception was of the utmost kindness and thoughtfulness at all times. I would not hesitate for one minute at the chance of going back.
Fully recomended

We were visiting Birmingham University and this hotel was quite close and I booked after reading reviews and also as good value. We normally stay in chains for overnight stays but we were pleased we booked here. Excellent car parking, spacious room. Painting still in foyer area outside restaurant but this looked as if it was the last phase. Bed comfortable and staff friendly and welcoming. Breakfast as reviewed before was freshly cooked and quality ingredients and even ofered back or streaky crispy bacon. service efficient and friendly. Night before restaurant was empty so we walked 10 minutes to Broad Street. as promised it was safe and well lit and lots of restaurants. The down side - there is no lift and if we had heavier bags this would have been a problem as so many stairs and corridors to get to our room on 2nd floor. Not sure if assistance is available. Also breakfast is only until 9am, 10 am at weekend - was OK for us that day but if there for leisure break would not have been happy. Also hairdryer in bathroom took for ever to dry hair so take your own! All in all for price paid very good and would book again. Erica, Surrey

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay and we are pleased that overall you enjoyed your expeirience of the hotel. if I can address the points you raised one by one: Assistance with your luggage is available and should have been offered at checkin so please accpet my apologies for this not happening. We are also going to be purchasing new hairdryers for the bedrooms over the coming months which should be more powerful. Breakfast times are as you stated however guests can also opt for room service breakfast which could be served anytime up to 11am. I sincerely hope this reassures you and hope that we will welcome you back to the hotel soon.

I stay at the P & H on a fairly regular basis, just overnight but have always had 100% service from the moment I enter the from door. Rooms spendid, clean and spotless.
You could not really ask for more - take advantage of room service I do. A meal with a glass of wine, hot tub and a solid nights sleep. What more could anyone want from a hotel. Staff are a delight and always a smile and willing to satisfy the most difficult persons - trust me I have heard them. My favourite overnight and trust me Ihave travelled all over Europe in the finest - you would go a long way to beat value for money than the

The Plough and Harrow is one the oldest remaining hotels left in Birmingham after the City Council at the time decided to desecrate the the surrounding with tall ugly buildings.
thankfully as the hotel is a grade 2 listed it still stands out magnificently against all of the other buildings.
The Plough and Harrow used to be the Crème de la crème amongst hotels in Birmingham and in my opinion still is. The service is friendly, the rooms are very quite but we did have one of the older original rooms set at the back of the hotel.
The room had a trouser press something lacking in the modern hotel. The bed was very comfortable. The room also had a very large flat screen tv not that we used it.
The bathroom had plenty of room in it even for two people.
The bathroom and room are showing some sign of wear but it is a very old hotel and you accept this. The price compared to all of the other plastic hotels is very reasonable.
We will stay there again when in Birmingham.

Picked the plough as wanted to be just outside the city, was a bit concerned when I read some of the comments on TA but glad to say we had a great stay. All the staff were warm and friendly and you get a real welcoming feeling.

It is obvious that the new owners are investing in the hotel and our room was newly refurbished with smart bathroom, brand new comfy bed and plasma TV plus it was a freezing night and the room was lovely and warm!

We had a couple of drinks in the pub which is a cosy place and shows Sky so was able to catch up with the football results prior to going out and the full English breakfast was included in our rate and was delicious!

The main pros in my opinion for staying here is that it’s just that little bit out of the centre (you can walk to broad street) so not as noisy as some of the city centre hotels we have used and free parking is a big plus in the city!

I spent 3 nights at the Plough and Harrow Hotel with a friend. We found the staff to be courteous, helpful and anxious to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The attention to detail and efforts to rectify any problems were outstanding. Although the hotel is undergoing some updating, every effort was made to cause as little inconvenience as possible. Any queries or problems were dealt with immediately. The restaurant provided excellent food at very good value and is in a most attractive and atmospheric room. I am amazed that more people were not eating there during our stay. Breakfast was also freshly cooked and good. I am looking forward to staying here again in the near future. My overall impression is that the staff are very anxious to make this hotel a success and are willing to "go the extra mile" to achieve that aim.
