“Central hotel”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

We have stayed in this hotel several times but only for 1 or 2 nights. We have never been disappointed. The rooms are large and airy and well equiped for tea and coffee making . The bathrooms only seem to have a shower within the bath but is supplied with lots of small bottles of toiletries.

We always have dinner in the restaurant on 1 of the evenings and again we have never been disappointed. The food has always been good and imaginative and the service cannot be faulted.

This is not a cheap hotel, the breakfast is not included in the price of the room and you have to pay £14 a night to park the car, however it is very central and we will continue to stay here whenever we visit Birmingham

Stayed here whilst my husband was in Birmingham on business.
Room was large and clean, decor was quite neutural and showed no obvious signs of wear and tear.
There were the usual tea & coffee making facilities and sachets of herbal teas or hot chocolate could be requested by calling house keeping. I did this and they were delivered within minutes.
The usual over priced mini bar is provided however with the central location everything you could possibly need is witihin easy reach of the hotel.
The bathroom was nice, small bath with shower over, fixed head shower which meant if you're over 5ft 6in (as we both are) you have to stoop to get under it. Lovely thick clean white towells though.
Nice that the in room temperature and lighting were controlled with multiple options, not just on or off as in some hotels. And the air con/ heating was silent.
The bed was huge and was very comfortable with extra pillows supplied if needed.

The only meal we ate in the hotel was breakfast, this was served in the bright and airy glass atrium restaurant. A good choice of cereals, seeds, berries, yoghurts, compotes, smoked salmon, cold meats, cheeses and then the usual choice of cooked breakfast items. This was all self service. I have to say the 'Continental' style items were displayed really nicely and tasted fresh, the yoghurt and compote especially. The cooked breakfast was a little dried out, the bacon looked awful, a weird brown colour and the oddest texture. We were sat by the hot dishes and everyone we saw opened up the bacon dish and closed it again without taking any!
There was also a menu from which one could order items such as Haddock and Kippers, poached eggs and Omelettes.
Staff were polite and perhaps a little to keen to be efficient, almost fighting to get to you at the front desk. One member of staff trying to check you in or out is sufficient, 2 or 3 is overkill and confuses things.
If we had cause to be in Birmingham again we would consider staying here again

Room Tip: High floor gets better view

This is my third time staying at this hotel, once a year for the past three years. A good quality hotel in the very centre, clean, well equipped, great outlets and a walkway to the conference centre.

All in all a professionaly run hotel, exactly what any businessman would expect of a Hyatt. In saying that I would almost certanly be more than happy to stay here should I ever decide to holiday in the centre of Birmingham :-)

Best thing about the place is undoubtedly the attentive service.

Room Tip: If your budget stretches the club rooms on 22 to 24 offer access to the lounge - complimentary cockt...

The location is great for central Brum - shops, railway station, theatre, restaurants and bars. A quick stroll around the corner and you experience the Gas St. Baisin Canal too - also seen from my room.
The rooms are spacious (this was my 2nd visit) with great linen, comfy beds bath robes and the rest! The only disappointment was the hair dryer which didn't have a nozzle - but it was powerful.
What I like most about the Hyatt is the consistent friendly service-( despite the sub-zero temperatures) the doormen/concierge (who are outside) were really helpful with directions, parking and just generally cheerful

Have stayed here on two occasions, the hotel is situated perfectly for Brindley Place with its bistros and wine bars, also for shopping in the city.

Check in efficient, room comfortable with good sound proofing from the busy broad street.

We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and the food on the evening was excellent with attentive but not overbearing service. Breakfast has a wide range of items to suit most tastes.

Wine bar also handy for a pre dinner drink or cocktails.

Parking off site at £14 per night, however can check in and load/unload first.

stayed at this hotel in january 2012, and i have to say this really is the nicest, cleanest and best hotel iv ever stayed at,
my partner and i were greeted by very friendly staff who were happy to help with any query,
the room was huge with a massive bed, floor to ceiling windows to show off an amazing view,
the room was spotless, not a spec of dust to be seen, the bed linen was also immaculate.
minibar was well stocked, plenty of clean towels, soap, toilet tissue ect...
we had a slight problem with the price at first as it had reduced after we had paid, but the staff were quick and happy to help, not only putting the difference as credit onto the room, but also upgraded us to the regency club, where we enjoyed free drinks, snacks and breakfast in a private lounge.
cant wait to go again...

Room Tip: choose regency club..the extras are worth it
