“Very relaxing and comfortable!”
Reviewed 17 June 2012

Only stayed for one night with my girlfriend but it felt like a holiday. Check-in was very smooth and Mohamed who served us was very friendly and gave us a good briefing of the facilities and a room with a great view over the city. The spa was extensive and clean and open until 9pm, there is a sauna, steam, jacuzzi and good size swimming pool. I also used the gym which was very well equipped and looked fairly new. We also had dinner there which was a bit more pricey vs. restaurants in the area but the quality of food and service was worth it. Only negative was that the portions of the 3 course set menu were a bit small vs. a la carte.

Overall the hotel is not brand new but you can see that it has been very well maintained and certain areas have certainly been upgraded over time. The rooms are a very good size and have everything you need (and expect in a Hyatt). Even though it is one of the more expensive hotels in Birmingham I think it was worth every pound given the facilities and service. The location is also ideal, it is walking distance from the main rail station (New Street) and many pubs / restaurants are nearby.

Room Tip: The higher floors have a great view over the city

I've stayed here on several occasions. Rooms are really comforfortable and staff always helpful. The hotel is ideally placed for conferences at the ICC - and is joined by a bridge, so you don't have to step outside!
Breakfast has a really good selection of food - lots of lovely, more healthy options plus all the old traditional favourites.
Room service is VERY expensive. £18.50 for a small chicken tikka ( no rice)

Me and my boyfriend came here over new year 2011 and stopped for 3 nights. We got a fantastic deal on LastMinute.com so decided to book a nice break for new year.

The room was cosy and very classy looking although there were slight stains on the floor which was a little dissapointing for the type of hotel that it was.

The mini bar was extremely over priced although most are. The bathroom was clean and the bed linen was immaculate as I am very particular about these things.

The receptionists were very helpful and very polite.

Our room was situated by the lift which caused slight noise.

Never got chance to use the spa although I popped in to pick up price list and it did look very nice!

Would visit there again but only if we could find a good deal again as very expensive otherwise.

Room Tip: Choose a room a distance from the lift as it is quite noisy.

The Hyatt Regency is in a very good, central part of Birmingham just opposite the ICC. It is well-sited for local bars, clubs and restaurants, which is a good and bad thing in my book.
My room was on the 12th floor, overlooking the canal basin. It was quite large with a comfortable bed, a desk and also had plenty of storage. The bathroom was fairly modern, it had lots of toiletries available too.
The whole feeling of the hotel is very much that it is a "brand". Once inside you could be anywhere. The entrance is large and reminded me of an American hotel, with a central atrium with lots of plants etc. Again the rooms have that, you could be anywhere feel, which probably suits a lot of business travellers.
Being on the 12th floor, I thought my room would be fairly quiet. But my stay included over the weekend, so when I returned to my room late on the Friday night, I immediately noticed the noise coming from outside. Although I couldn't see it, there must've been a club nearby, from which music was blaring. On the Saturday night it was even worse, it almost seemed like my room was right outside the club! And the racket went on well into the early hours. Colleagues with rooms on other sides of the hotel didn't have this problem, but visitors who live somewhere quiet (like me) should be aware that this is a very busy part of the city and party town at the weekends. Other days weren't such a problem though.
Breakfast was pretty good, with a choice of hot and cold dishes.
In summary, the hotel is in an excellent position in the city, but if you want something with a bit of atmosphere and charm, look at other hotels in Birmingham.

My friend and I stayed here for 1 night in June. The hotel is in an excellent position next to the canal with restaurants and bars within walking distance. We were able to check in early and had a very good size twin room with a view of the canal with floor to ceiling windows. The bathroom was large with a bath and shower over. We used the pool sauna and steam room and there all of the staff which we came across were very friendly and helpful I would definitely stay here again when I visit Birmingham
