The first appearances are deceptive. The hotel is looking and smelling stale and in need of a good overhaul. Just look at the worn condition of the chairs and seats in the lounge, dining and bar areas. The fabric on the arms is on the point of fraying. Not impressive.
The bedroom was not much better. I never thought I would see the day when the desk/table in the bedroom would have a 'burn'mark on it! Room smelled musty.
Staff generally helpful. Thank you.

Room Tip: Go up high. Great views.

We booked the Hyatt as we were seeing a show at the Symphony Hall with friends and combining our trip with some retail therapy. Parking was no problem in the small car park but I guess it might have been if really busy. We had arrived from Somerset at 11.45 so far too early for our room we thought, but we were given our club room immediately. We found all members of staff to be very pleasant and helpful at all times. The club room was fab, great views, lovely room and well equipped. The breakfast, daytime soft drinks, and evening canapes, hot food and alcholic drinks from 5.30 to 6.30 set us up perfectly for our cooncert. Very close to the shops and a bridge across to the symphony hall. Next morning we had a great swim but choose not to use the state of art gym as feeling a little tired! Fabulous hotel and we will definitely being staying again.

My daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful stay to celebrate her 21st birthday. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and looked after. Nothing was too much. The reception staff are just so helpful and friendly. Will always book from now on when visiting the city.

Expensive sunglasses left in room mailed the same day. Why should I be so surprised that the glasses were found email replied to and in the post the same day? Because it is so rare to get this level of service. Through out the hotel the staff wee great enthusiastic and interesting made for an excellent business stop. Restaurant food was good Service too. Decent wine selection fixed menu extremely good value and All a carte
Spa nice great sauna. Rooms my usual issues no where with a mirror power and enough light to put on the slap, had to use desk and do gymnastics with tongs.

Having stayed at the Hyatt several times this year already, I feel I must express how fantastic this hotel really is. You are welcomed by the most fantastic concierge staff. From check in to departure you are looked after by staff who all want to ‘go that extra mile'. Rahul in particular on reception is truly a credit to the hotel. The staff in Bar Pravda look after your every need with the most warm welcome. This bar truly has a 'little bit of magic' about it. The Amala Spa is a wonderful place to get away from it all and recharge yourself ready to either dine in the hotel or hit the town which is right on your doorstep!
Treat yourself to Club Regency, it is worth that little bit extra for the views over the city or the canal and the private dining facilities.
I am really looking forward to my next stay later this month. Thank you all for your excellent customer service!

As we drove up and emptied the car of baggage, the concierge pointed across the road to a small car park and said he would let us in there. Not sure if that was because of the snow or not.
So result No1.
Checked in with the pleaseant reception staff and went to our rooms on the 21st (i think) floor.
A decent size clean room with floor to ceiling views towards Brum centre. Took a while to fathom the heating A/C system but it soon warmed up.
A good size bed with plenty of cupboard/draw space. An excellent bathroom with toiletries that I could actually read the labels without glasses....hooray.
The first night we dined in the restaurant, good service and quality food that did not disappoint.
The fridge was usable (not weighted) so we could remove the hotel stuff and put our own in.

Breakfast was ok, good selections, but no porridge and the bacon, eggs etc were a bit disappointing.

We have also stayed recently at the Radisson Blu and all thing considered if we were going to Brum again, we would pick the Radisson, even if it is a bit dated now.

Room Tip: Better views higher up

Great location - short walk across road to Brindley Place , symphony hall etc . Its feels luxurious as soon as you go in . Huge bright loby/dining area where we had a delicious afternoon tea . Rooms large , spotless and well equiped .Great views over the city . Swimming pool is good size with jaccuzi , steam room etc . Spa next door . We used the spa next to the pool area - costs extra of course but would recommend it .
