Used hotel for a conference, stayed for 4 nights. Close to the Birmingham New Station, and connected to the Conference Centre. The Museum, and the shopping district is all a short walk away. 15th floor was quiet. Rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was included, which was very convenient and delicious. Check in and check out were very smooth. A definite recommend.

Stayed for one night with work. Rooms are lovely and breakfast was fab. Would definitely stay again.
Very helpful staff.
Good location - close to bars and restaurants.
We had 13 rooms booked and we would have preferred our rooms to be closer together otherwise it was great.

We spent one night in Birmingham and were truly impressed by the quality and service we received at this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. We arrived slightly early around 11 am and were welcomed by Mantas, who took care of our check-in in a very warm and efficient way. His service was truly superb! We were also offered a choice of newspapers and a later check-out, which we appreciated since our train was departing quite late the next day. We asked if we could have a room on a higher floor and were given a room on the 16th floor (24 being the highest) with the city view - really great. Although the room was not ready when we arrived, it was fine to keep the luggage with the concierge and we went off to explore the city centre and local attractions which are in the vicinity.
The bed was very comfortable and the view through the floor to ceiling windows impressive. We had to ask for slippers, which I believe are available on request. After 10 minutes, we received a dental kit instead! It was handled in a good humour though and replaced immediately with slippers. The bathrobes are available in the room. We also enjoyed the spa, which provides a reasonably sized pool for a good swim, a jacuzzi, steam room and a sauna with TV. There is a modern gym too. Water and towels provided. It was nice to be able to use these facilities also after we have checked out in the afternoon the next day.
The breakfast was delicious and all you would expect at a quality 4* hotel - a selection of fresh juices, tea/coffee service, yoghurts, cheese, fresh and dried fruits, hot counter with full English breakfast, cured salmon and other sea food. A nice assortment of bread and sweet pastry completed the buffet. We were taken care by Oli who was very polite and helpful throughout.
Overall a great experience, hospitable staff, fantastic location a short walk from the railway station and the city centre, relaxing stay. I would like to come back!

This was the second single night stay as part of the cross country tour of universities with one of my sons.

The night before we had stayed at the Marriot in Leeds.

I chose the Hyatt for a number of reasons

1. I wanted a central hotel that would be near the cities main attractions so that my son could get a feel for the city.
2. I wanted a good comfortable hotel with Wi-Fi a gym and pool and in house restaurants to give us options and good parking
3. the reviews I had read indicated that the hotel was a good example of a better end chain hotel

The reality however was somewhat different from the advertised offering.

The good points

The best thing without a doubt, was the quality of the staff. Almost all of the staff were good and some were just outstanding. Lee one of the concierges was a real character and very helpful.

As other reviewers have pointed out the hotel looks good, its a stylish modern hotel that is optically pleasing.

Location is great, its bang slap in the centre of the city near everything including a host of competitor hotels. The view from the upper floors is very nice.

The gym, pool and spa are very nice. the spa was not staffed when we went but we were in at about 8pm. the pool is nice and the Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all available as part of the standard room rate is a nice extra touch. it was all reasonably clean, one small whinge was the complete lack of any products in any of the dispensers in the male changing room at all (and yes, I did check every single one)

I paid for a room upgrade to an upper floor to include Wi-Fi, breakfast and an upper floor room with a view.

The not so good

The first room they gave me was a double, despite knowing I had booked a twin. They moved me from floor 21 to 20 to give me a twin rather than simply splitting the double into its 2 component singles. I was a little miffed by this as the rooms on floor 20 are a little smaller than those on 21 and it should have been very simple to split the beds. The beds themselves are 2 basic singles, a little disappointing for a chain that purports to be high end and who certainly charge high end prices. as a comparison the Marriot the night before gave us 2 big doubles for 60% of the cost

The hotel actually has very few facilities. The total restaurant count is one, its a small section of the small communal guest open area which also doubles up as the breakfast area in the morning and the lounge area at all times.

Breakfast is 17.50 a head and is Ok but horrifically overpriced as overall is the whole hotel

The bad bits

Obviously from the above, value for money is dreadful

The showers give out almost zero water, about 25% of the water you get staying in a bottom end hotel like a Travelodge, really very poor.

Parking is 400 meters from the hotel in a dingy multi-storey car park that isn't at all secure and costs 13.50 on top of the already high room rate

Wi-Fi is extra at 9 a device or unlimited devices as part of the room upgrade with breakfast and an upper floor for 35

All of the rooms are essentially the same other than the floor they are on

The overall experience just leaves you feeling ripped off despite the lovely staff and nice décor and location. I found myself wishing I had stayed in the premier inn or one of the other 6 or so hotels within a couple of hundred yards of the Hyatt.

In short, probably not one of my best choices and probably not a hotel I would bother staying at again in Birmingham. I think there are a host of better value alternatives in the same area

This hotel simply has too many shortcomings and a lack of facilities that its room rate and extras charging policy don't reflect to be worth staying at

Room Tip: if you need Wi-Fi and breakfast go for the room upgrade as it costs the same as 2 breakfasts and giv...

Have just arrived back from a night at the Hyatt Regency and I can honestly say the treatment we received was brilliant.

I had booked for the night to treat my daughter for her 18th birthday. A few days before we went I had enquired if there was any chance of a few extras in my daughters room (and the cost so that I could decide what to go for) as it was her birthday.

My emailed was promptly answered by Christos who was very helpful and said he would look into it for me and get back to me which he did the next day and advised it had been passed to His colleague Tomas.

Upon arrival I was informed that the hotel didn't normally offer extras but would see what they could do but unfortunately they had not managed to get the room set up with any extras which was fine as it was not a definite that I would get any.

Well, to our surprise Tomas had put balloons and a cuddly teddy and an 18th birthday card to my daughter from the Hyatt team...which was a nice touch ..very impressed.

Then I received a call in my own room from Tomas checking to see if she liked it and if the teddy was ok as he wasn't sure what to get a18year old girl ....he had actually gone out and got the stuff himself as the hotel did not normally do it .....talk about 1st class personal service ....wonderful! But then he went onto say he had arranged for a fruit platter, birthday cake, chocolates and refreshments to be delivered to the room and even offer myself and my daughter step mum drinks too ( and it wasn't our birthday) ...and then went on to offer to make dinner reservations for us if we needed it).....it made us feel just as special as my daughter ....absolutely outstanding xxx Thank you Tomas and Christos xxx you're a credit to the Hyatt team xxxx

Hotel facilities: Room was immaculate, beds comfy, everything you need is supplied and it's so quiet. swimming pool and spa look amazing and my daughter and her friend used the facilities and they love it ...and they're fussy teenage girls so it must be good! Lol.....Central location for shopping

The best part was the total and utter surprise that all of the extras that I had asked about and received were not charge to my bill .....all supplied Free of charge for my daughter ....quite simply lost for words and the excellent service and would most definitely recommend using the hotel to friends and family

Returning soon for a spa weekend break and can't wait

Room Tip: Room 1519 and 1514 had lovely views of broad street and the canal
