Went to Carters on Thursday night with my husband and daughter and we had a memorable lovely meal and evening. 5 Course dinner with amuse bouche of chicken liver cereal (gorgeous) radishes with miso and trout roe bon bons. First course was English broad beans with majoram and iced goats milk - so Fresh and refreshing, followed by Albacore Tuna with heritageTomatoes and smoked ricotta. I explained I couldn't eat raw cheese and so the chef did me an olive tapenade to go with my dish - accommodating and lovely. Then followed some of the best duck we've eaten (inc at Michelin 3 * restaurants) it was served with Bobby beans and Bilberries. Followed by Buttermilk Mousse and Strawberries. With our coffees came a tin with cocoa beans in and three mini slabs (6 big squares) of the most divine chocolate. All this at the price of £45. a head!!!! The staff were so good, knowledgeable friendly and just perfect. Its been named Midland restaurant of the year - we can see why. Have obviously booked to return. Fabulous!!!

We went to Carters for my birthday last Thursday after reading the reviews on here and needless to say, we weren't disappointed. The quality, intricacy and beauty of the menu is astounding and far exceeded our expectations. The staff were highly attentive but not too fussy and provided us with brilliant recommendations on the wine. If you're looking for somewhere special, but by no means pretentious, then I'd highly recommend here. We can't wait to return!

The quest for perfection requires constant patience, determination and belief. Where there is an amazing intuitive chef talent and a dedicated waiting team, belief has a great opportunity to become reality in creating a whole restaurant experience with the most incredible food.

Today’s lunch was true perfection, a testament that if you want to taste really amazing food, then the best things happen to those who wait. We had at least six best things.... Three very beautiful courses, an excellent wine, very nice ambience and informative, pleasant staff.

Along with original dishes of crafted flavours and textures, we appreciated how our meal started long before we arrived...It had taken 12 hours to braise the coastal lamb, whilst local sourcing is a constant search and endeavour. Thus, we would take our time to appreciate this very special food.

Defining this cuisine goes beyond “attention to detail”, the team have rare know-how and passion to source and transform quality ingredients and turn them into the supremely special. Thank you so much for those tasteful pleasures Carter’s, we would love to come back and sample more of your subtlety, originality and belief in perfection.

Went to Carter's for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We had booked but there was no problem getting a table and there was plenty of room in the restaurant so we could choose where we sat. Staff were very welcoming and super-friendly, making us feel relaxed and welcome as soon as we walked in. As a picky pescetarian, I am often concerned about finding something suitable on a fine dining restaurant menu. My concerns quickly disappeared when I spotted a wonderful blend of cheese, potatoes and veg, all locally sourced - the dish was delicious! My husband's lamb dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned and came with an amazingly tasty and full-bodied jus. Staff are highly knowledgeable about the provenance of ingredients and were ready and able to recommend suitable wine to accompany our meals. The food was presented beautifully and very well paced so we had enough time to digest before the next course. The £20 lunch menu represents very good value for money and means we'll definitely be back for more!

I had heard a lot about this place and decided to go for lunch with 9 other friends. Staff was very friendly and had catered for all our dietary needs.

We had a three course meal and the food was delicious. Sad bit was that the portions were tiny although the sticky toffee pudding was the saving grace. However the locally ground wheat used to bake the bread was delicious and plentiful.

The courses were flavoursome and delicious! I would have rated this place as excellent if the portions were bigger! For us ladies it was just about enough but men would definitely come away hungry.....
