We've been a couple of times to Carters, and can't think of a better place to send you for a great meal for a special occasion or if you are feeling flush. They usually use a tasting menu--choose 5 or 7 courses--and offers a vegetarian option. The starters course--snacks, they are so humbly called--is lovely and variable to what the chef is inspired by. They were especially accommodating for gluten free needs. Frankly, I don't know how a person could eat the 7 courses. They specialize in sourcing local and high-quality food and have dairy connections that are enviable. They know their wine, and you can pay reasonably or very much for a bottle of wine. This is the best restaurant in the West Midlands that we've eaten at.

Dined here in July, opting for the 7 course tasting menu with the accompanying wine flight.

Food was amazing...excellent flavours and well explained by the front of house team. Some of the dishes appear to change on a regular basis so very pleasing to think that a return visit will have something new to try.

We opted for the wine flight and each glass was a perfect match for the dish. This involves quite a lot of wine and I would suggest that 5 glasses (as opposed to 7) would be a better match for the 7 courses but that said I'd happily do the same again.

Represents good value when comparing against its peers in Birmingham but representative of the slightly out of town location.

Would certain recommend and will visit again. Definitely worth a visit if you desire fine dining but not some off the overcomplicated fuss that goes with it.

First time at Carters, and wow what a fantastic evening. From the moment we arrived the staff were all smiles, friendly and attentive. The food and the wines were explained clearly. We went for the 7 course taster menu, this was well delivered, interesting and delicious food, creatively thought out, washed down with yummy bottle Prosecco, which we love to drink. Amazing. Will definitely visit again and well worth the treat. Highly
deserved Michelin award.

Modern fine dining in a warm, unpretentious atmosphere prepared by one of the country's most exciting young chefs. The 'main courses' are always a highlight which is rare for a tasting menu. Would recommend this place to anyone who thinks that fine dining is a stuffy experience comprised of scowls and tired dishes. Prepare to be won over!

Nice place with a very sociable and knowledgeable staff - this is a real rising star. I was ill during the meal - no fault of the restaurant - and they were very understanding, very helpful and didn't charge me for the courses I couldn't eat. The food was exciting with some top flavour combinations. The table staff could explain the dishes very well and everyone seemed to really enjoy working at the place. The wine list was a little limited I thought but overall a very good place to eat and one I would happily return to.
